Oil Filter?

I bought my 2003 3rd Gen last year and will be needing to do an oil change soon. The truck has one of the aftermarket attachments that changes the oil filter angle. My question is does it still use the same size filter? Hoping to figure it out before I drain everything.

If it's the adapter that Mopar offers for the older Hemi's I would assume that it is still the stock filter, however you know what happens when you assume something. If you can't read the number on it while it's installed the only answer is to take it off and go to parts store and have it cross referenced.

If t's a 45º adapter it is most likely a factory piece (stock on Durangos). The year it came from will dictate what thread size and therefore what filter. Your best bet? Crawl under and get the P/N off the filter (lots of room under there).

thanks for the advice. The current filter's number is facing the adapter and unreadable, however I got a new filter and they look to be the same.

They may look the same, but you won't know for sure until you try to spin it on. I found this out the hard way because they don't tell you the kit requires the newer style (changed in 2008) larger thread filter lol.
