Hi all, hoping someone can help me with this. I rebuilt my engine last spring and set it into a new frame for my truck to await a body swap. While it sat, I noticed a few drops of oil near the rear seal area, but thought nothing of it since the engine was freshly rebuilt and only had assembly lube in it.

Six months later, I completed my body swap got everything hooked up and the engine runs and drives beautifully, but it has this annoying oil leak. Its not like any oil leak I have ever dealt with.

While the engine is running and for two days after, the engine is dry and no signs of an oil leak at all. After two days, there are a few drops on the concrete just to the right of the rear seal area. After about a week there is a good size puddle under the truck. That is if I don't drive it. If I drive it regularly the truck show no signs of leaking.

I have never seen an engine that leaks oil like this. The engine is completely stock.

I have rebuilt engines most of my life but this is my first HEMI engine.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Start from the bottom and look for oily dirt as you go. Clean up as you go to the source.

I had a 3.9l like that. It was leaking from the valve covers.

I have the same exact issue right now. I need to put on my 6. Intake so I am going to check for a cracked intake and or valve cover leak as well.

Thank you all for replying. I’m still looking as I hate leaks. If I find anything I’ll let you know. I checked valve covers and they seem fine and thank you for the suggestion.
