I know this has been posted on just about every site but I don't seem to find any posts that have the same situation as mine. I replaced the sending unit, and I still have problems. If I'm at a stop sign or a red light the gauge stays steady MOST of the time. The idiot light is usually on. It comes on if I slow down. EVERY time i hit the gas it goes off. I've also had moments where the gauge freaks out and "twitches." I'm not sure if there is an actual oil pressure problem or it's just electrical.

Best thing you can do to troubleshoot this, is to get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and run it to actually verify if you have an oil pressure problem or if it is the cluster wigging out on you.

Most auto parts stores will have the gauges. You would plumb in the sending unit about the same place as the factory one. Or just use the one that is in there now. Another thing that I would say to look at is your oil level. Mine did the same thing when my plenum was blown and i was burning oil. Had no idea my level had dropped below the pickup and would only pickup oil on accel. I know it's a silly suggestion but somewhere to start before buying parts. lol

The other thing is make sure you have a good ground. I have had my cluster twitch when my ground was loose.

It's always hard to check the oil for me at least. Every time I put the dipstick back in after wiping it off it gets covered in oil half way up. I don't understand that. Also, the very tip of my dipstick is black. Like it has a rubber coating. IS that right?

Sorry it's been long. I forgot about this thread! haha Anyway, I have plenty of oil. You said to check a ground? Where is the ground for the cluster? That's probably not the case though as the oil gauge is the ONLY one acting up. Any ideas? It's annoying to see every time I'm stopped.
