I've got a 96 half ton runner driver and a 98 one ton cab and chassis rolling frame. Originally I was just going to take the axles and suspension from the one ton and put under the half ton. Now wondering if maybe I could just swap the half ton body onto the cab chassis frame? Half ton is an ecsb and the ton frame is a rclb. Frame strength is not an issue with this truck it will not be hauling real heavy loads or anything. Mainly wanting the heavier axles and ride height.

Thanks

First place to start would be checking where the cab mounts on the frame are for each style cab, then look at the profile of the frame make sure it's all the same.

ECSB Wheelbase isn't the same as a RCLB from what I recall.
You could fab up rear cab mounts, and make a mini ( like 5.5') bed though.

I would probably just swap the 1 ton axles under the half ton. Much less fab work involved. Great upgrade to do, this was something |I wanted to do my old second gen before I sold it.

On that^ note....swapping axles does NOT. I repeat...NOT increase legal load carrying capacity. If you're caught hauling way more than the truck is rated for from the factory you WILL be ***** by the highway patrol.
