i ordered a 18 3500 srw mega cab limited with cummins/aisin and sticker price ended up being around 80k , however i was told by dealer that it should be there by middle of november if not before, but here it is 4 days from the new year and it’s supposedly still being built.
anyways i see where folks claim to be getting out the door with 15-20% off sticker price, so i just wanted to see what other folks who have ordered thought would be a good price to shoot for?

Aren't you locked into a price when you order? Minus any additional factory incentives that come available that were not available at the time of order?

well not sure, this is my first time to order, it’s way longer than i was told it would take so i don’t see why that wouldn’t be reason for some compensation back my way.
ordered it september 15th and was told it shouldn’t take more than 2 months but they usually show up sooner than that, so first week of november i called to check on it and was told tentative ship date was november 23rd, here it is 5 weeks past THAT date for a total of 15 weeks as of tomorrow and still no truck, only explanation i get is it’s being built in mexico and they expect it to show up any day.
i’m almost to the point of keeping my 06 and spending a little to freshen up the paint, interior and radio and let them keep the 18 that never got built till 19, less than a year down the road banks and loan companies will already be considering it a 2 year old truck, and probably the dealer also if i wanted to trade it in

I would state my feelings about the situation and if they won't make some reasonable attempt to work with you tell them to keep it.

that’s what i’m leaning toward

Did you put down deposit already and signed the contract for set price?

Have you tried to negotiate with them at the time of ordering?

Walk away! I hope you didnt give them any money yet (???)
Sounds like the beginning/making of a bad relationship to me.

Money or not, tell them to refund you since they didn't deliver as promised!
Some dealers wont refund the deposit. Depends on whats in writing by the customer.
Pretty bad when dealers cost the manufacturer their customers.

If the dealer placed the order properly and at the time they were supposed to I don't know that I would hold them accountable for how long it took to arrive. The salesman can't call the factory and demand they hurry it up.

So you ordered a truck and it’s taking a while to get there, so what. That’s just how it is. Sometimes it takes 4 weeks, sometimes it takes 4 months. Should you be “entitled” to a better deal? Absolutely not. Do you have a VIN for it yet? If you do, then it will get there when it gets there. You asked what is a good price to shoot for. Am I to understand that you ordered the truck without negotiating the sale price of the truck first?
