Paying a dealer to change your oil is just asking to be bent over and have your money taken from you. Take 15 minutes and do the job yourself. Just my $0.02.

While a vehicle I own has warranty. I take it to either the dealer or Canadian tire for oil changes. Price is the same for my civic so it goes to the dealer. Truck usually goes to Canadian tire. I ran into issues. Fighting with a dealer over warenty work when doing the oil changes myself. Even though I'd write the km on the receipt for the purchased oil and filter.

Then you need to find a new dealer or get your current one in line. You are the one paying for the vehicle and ultimately going to be responsible for it, not the kid in the back that does not give a hoot about your truck and just dumped 11 quarts of conventional oil in your motor and knows that there is nothing going to happen to the vehicle because of it before the warranty expires. Then it's being fixed on your dime.

Ha, I wish it was that easy. Next closest dodge dealer is almost an hr drive. (My problem was with a ford dealer a long time ago) I just found it easier for 6-10 oil changes to pay a shop and have it logged in a computer. I also keep ever receipt. The dealer has been great so far (the Honda and the dodge one). My civic ran out of warenty after two years because of the km I drive. When it was about 10,000 away from no warenty, they did a full inspection and replaced/repaired every minor detail on the car. I have to drive 45 min to that dealer. It's the closest one to me.

$500 total oil changes? What!?! :jawdrop: I mean I used to pay $75 for an oil change in my Cummins 6.7. They were really bending you over backwards and giving you a wet *****! I've started doing mine on my truck after the first 2 I got so tired of seeing $75 just float away in a pan. So now I do mine for the cost of the oil and a $10 WIX Filter.

That at the dealer? Just getting the oil and filter is over $150 at Canadian tire. That was the cheapest I found for the synthetic and I could only get a filter at the dealer.

you would think the way people totally exaggerate the diff between the 6 and 8 speeds on this forum that they also get excitable if someone gets their latte order wrong at Starbuck's or broke a fingernail or something. Who gives a **** if it's a bit smoother, it's a truck go buy a Prius if you have an inner :homoswitch:

Its a lot more fun to drive the 8 speed than a 6 speed, I have both. The 8 speed has much fewer "dead" spots and always seems to be in a better gear for spirited driving. Seems like there is 20 more HP available.

For a simple transportation appliance, and don't tow much, the difference is not much more than a mpg or so. At a $2000 premium, its hard to justify the 8 speed over the 6 speed as transportation.

I've driven the 8 as well and here's what I found: I have to push the gas pedal a little more in the 6 in town driving from a stop. People on this website blow it so out of proportion you'd think they had sticks for legs. Seriously that's basically what the difference in "spirited" boils down to between the 6 and the 8: how hard you push the pedal. I have had zero issues in actual power when I needed to punch it whether I'm passing someone or hauling stuff. It's a 5.7L Hemi, the power has always been there whenever I've called on it.

After having had both. I don't have any complaints about the 6 speed. Mind you the power delivery between the diesel with an 8 and the hemi with an 8 will be different and I have never driven a hemi with an 8. So IMO the hemi with the 6 works just fine.

Yeah its not a big deal to most but its a little more complicated than pushing the throttle more as spirited is pushing and releasing more quickly and expecting immediate acceleration, not waiting for the transmission to pick a better gear. Also throttle moderation to avoid unnecessary shifting while still having some acceleration. Some of us are more into immediate gratification than others, and drive in situations where the 6 speed holes are more annoying :)...

The 6 speed definitely has more holes than the 8 speed, which is a big thing for some, ehh for others. I usually drive the 6 speed around town in 4, and its does well, but I don't find that necessary in the 8 speed.

Its nice to have some options. My 6 speed seems to have some shudder at times, but then its got more miles on it. The 6 speed has been a decent transmission since 1999 with some relatively minor updates along the way. Every transmission shop has probably seen dozens of these so good service should be easy to arrange.

A 6 speed with higher numerical axle ration would probably have fewer holes.
