Hey All

Yesterday my upper radiator hose blew off my 4.7 and I lost most if not all of my anti-freeze. The gage pegged over and I limped home about 8 miles. I turned it down a side street and it died. I went and got 3 gallons of 50/50 Peak at Dollar Gen and 2 gallons of H20. I was able to refill it about 20 minutes later and got it up to speed temperature wise and it started and ran well going home. Praying no problems, I checked the oil and it looks fine , no milky sludge. I just changed it last week too.
Here's my question.

Is there a possibility I dodged a bullet on the head gasket, or is a down the road problem to look out for?

Brandie has 247,000 miles on her and little things are showing up, but I just had the rear end rebuilt on a recall by Dodge they paid for it. Had a new fuel pump installed and getting ready to redo ALL of the bushings and a 4" spindle lift. (been collecting all the parts) So I really don't want to start over with someone else's problems (can't afford a new truck).

Are the Power Train rebuilt engines good to go?

Any input is welcome, Thanks H-

I recently over heated my 4.7 and popped a head gasket or cracked a head. I decided to get a Jasper crate motor, 3yr,,100,000 mile warranty,,also gonna pull the dash and fix blend door and replace heater core while it is in the shop, Parts and labor is 6850 out the door. Cant see buying a used truck unknown condition.
You seem to have avoided a major issue,,I would be putting money aside tho just in case. Good luck.

Possible? Hell anything is possible...the likelihood is 50/50. You're gonna need to watch it closely if you cooked her that much...at that mileage plus one helluva an overheat I'd at least start putting money aside for either a replacement engine or rebuilding that one.
