Hello. Have 2018 2500 4x4 regular cab Tradesman with 4.10 gears. Lately I notice a bit of a lite clunk noise when I put the Tranny into Park. Frome drive I pause for a moment in reverse then into park. First the truck has done this in almost 16,000 miles. Any thoughts? Reason for concern? Thanks.

I get that now and then with my Cummins (same trans as the 6.4) never really thought much of it, figured it’s just the torque in the driveline releasing when the truck goes into park

My 2014 2500 with the 5.7 is clunky. Bought it with 72k now at 113k still clunky no issues. Most hd trucks I’ve been in are clunky.

Hi David,

You're going to get great advice here but if you end up getting this inspected by your Ram dealer, let us know. Our team is available via direct message and would be happy to escalate a case on your behalf.

Mine does the same thing, just put it in neutral first. It will let the tension off of the drive line. Instead of going from revers to park, drop it in Neutral first, then to park. I can actually feel the drive line release.

Or, with the transmission in neutral, you can apply the parking/emergency brake. Then shift into Park.

Thanks. Have taken your advice and the problem is solved. I wait fraction of a second in Neutral and then into park and it's smooth with no noise at all. Semper Fi, LAVs '88-'91
