P1524 Oil Pressure Out of Range - Camshaft Advance/Retard Disabled

I just bought the truck and when I ran the codes one of the ones it gave me is P1524 Oil Pressure Out of Range - Camshaft Advance/Retard Disabled'.

I drove back from picking it about a five hour drive. I was watching all the gauges constantly and the oil pressure gauge was reading a little below halfway. Stop and idle was about the same.

I got the oil and filter changed and made a 50 mile trip now it reads about a quarter inch above halfway and the code is gone.

I'm thinking that whoever changed it the last time put in the wrong oil.

What do Ya'll think?

Oil pressure sending unit and the vvt solenoid are both very common to fail but since you just bought it change oil use synthetic 5w30 who knows what was used.

That's what I'm hoping is they used the wrong oil and probably a super cheap filter. I use Mobil 1 High Mileage 5W20 and a 57899XP Wix filter.

Use 5w30 its better for the hemi we all switch to it.

Yes w20 is just to thin hemis tend to run quieter on 5w30

Now I'm really wondering what they had put in it since the 5W20 brought the oil pressure up. I'll get some 30 when I change it next.
