Painting Limited Chrome Tailgate

Had I spec'd out a new truck I would have ordered the body color RAM tailgate. But since I bought used I compromised on a truck with the chrome RAM on the tailgate. I was curious about just having a body shop paint it and was told they couldn't because the paint won't stick to the chrome lettering. Anyone got any ideas of a way to get the body color RAM lettering? The shop recommended a vinyl wrap over it but I'm not sure about that.

Truck is a 2016 Ram 1500 Limited, bright white.

You need to uy the black RAM letters from a Mopar supplier. These will be easy to paint by your body shop then install as new. Here is a link to check them out.

Use dental floss, comes off pretty well, if they are attached in the same manner as older trucks that is.
