Painting my fender Flares today

Finally have some time off and the proper weather to shoot some color matched paint on my flares.
The following is how I do it and the materials used.

Started off with

My high tech saw horses. Oddly enough this hold my flares very well.

Step 1

Prep solvent and adhesion promoter

Next is Primer

One is a Acrylic and one is just easy sanding

Don't ever use Acrylic on a flexable part. It is very hard and will end up chipping off.

Base coat

Color

Finally

The clear

Going to start by washing and then scuffing everything with a red scuff pad.

Nope they are for a R/T.

Should be a nice dull finish with no shinny spots. Shinny is always bad at this point. It means oil and oil will ruin your paint job.

Start prepping

For paint. I always run 2 coats of adhesion promoter.

Of sandible primer

Orange peal

Sometimes, no mater the prep, you get this, and or fish eyes

That's personally when I like to take that part and put it in my old grill out back, apply a excessive amout of flammable liquids and set it on fire....

First coat

Ok after a bit of sanding with 1000 grit, this is my first coat of color.

My truck for a super smooth paint job

After the first coat of color I like to go back with so 1000 grit wet and level every thing out. It's really easy now to see the highs and lows in your paint. All your doing is knocking the the highs down to your lows.
See the contrast between the primer and paint. Now is the time when you want everything super smooth.
