Hey guys,
I was looking into painted my rear axel on the '13 ram but couldn't find many threads about what paint should be used.
I though id put a little something together to show what i used and how it came out!
The paint i ended up used was Dupli-colors engine enamel.
I used this when i painted my engine cover and loved how it turned out (high gloss) so thats one if the reasons i picked this product.

After choosing this, i began to clean up the axle. I used a wire brush to get the surface rust off then used carb cleaner to remove any dirt and gunk.
The rust wasn't bad so i just used some rustoleum primer.
I did contemplate using some rust stabilizer though.

I applied about 3 layers of the semi gloss black high temp. paint and decided since i was under the truck i might as well paint my rear stabilizer bar red cause i had some left over paint from my engine cover.
Im Very happy how it came out, no more surface rust!!:ged:

Oh and one last thing, tin foil is an awesome way to stop overspray, I was using newspaper but it was difficult to find clean areas to tape too.
Tin foil can be formed around any object!!
