Hemi 5.7
Hey all - I just recently bought a 2011 ram (super crew 5.7 hemi) and I want to keep it up as well as possible. As you can see, there is some rust on the bottom of the truck, but this piece in particular is rusted well beyond anything else.

I’m pretty unskilled / novice when it comes to cars, but I’m looking forward to starting to learn as I take care of this truck.

My question is - what is this piece? And can I simply replace it with a new one? How worried should I be about it?

Any help / direction is appreciated.

Pretty sure those are sound dampeners.
No real functionality, some remove them.
Could just scrape them down and paint them with Rustoleum Reformer.

They are called Frame Vibration Dampeners or Mass Dampeners

Sound & Vibrations carry along the Frame rails
Those units units are found on several brands of vehicles
The first time that were used that i recall was on a Ford 3/4 ton that had a Liftgate on it.
