Pcm ecu compatability on 2001

Okay so I'm a newbie here and i'm wondering if anybody can help me out With finding out the compatibility of ecm/ pcu. I have a 2001 And I believe I have E c m from a 98 Can I program that to my truck If I take it to the dealer what kind of problems am I looking at If I do run into them?

Are you referring to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) on the firewall? It would be best to find the correct PCM and that it has the correct options for your pickup. Some pickups had rear ABS and some had all wheel ABS brakes. If you don't have the correct PCM to match which style of ABS you have, it will keep your Brake and ABS lights lit up on the instrument cluster.
