How loud do you want it? The aero turbine with a magnaflow y-pipe sounds really good to me, thats what im gonna do one of these days

I had a FM50 with duals on my truck for about 6 years. Had some drone but not bad. Overall pretty loud. Changed to a 30" Magnaflow with duals and it has a mellow sound that cruises beautifully. Goes loud at WOT, no drone and got a performance increase over the FM50. Not priced bad and is stainless steel. I really like mine as you can tell. You don't really need a complete system. Our trucks come with 3" pipe from the factory. Buy a magnaflow y pipe, and an Aero Turbine 3030 and dump it under the bed. You won't be disappointed.

I am getting ready to swap out my FM with either a Borla XR1 or AeroTurbine 3030, leaning toward the Borla.

Not for nothing but after you install the y-pipe. Your gonna have too custom from the cats to the y-pipe, then your gonna run straight pipe to the muffler you suggest. then dump it not far from there.Pretty much taking out 3/4's of the stock system. Thats pretty much a complete system overhaul , imo.
Oh btw. fm 50's pretty good for the money. Everthing else is more expensive. You get what you pay for, same as everything else.

I've had flowmaster and magnaflow on my truck and have to say that magnaflow is hands down the better muffler.

I'm a big fan of no mufflers! :D

Yeah, still running the resonators, but I love the sound on this beast!

if you are looking for performance, look for a muffler with a strait through design. chambered mufflers (ie flowmaster) sound nice, but the chambers restrict airflow to some extent.

i love my AT3030. it is LOUD though, so not for everyone. i set off car alarms driving down residential streets. the AT3030XL is the resonated version. sounds great, but not quite as loud. anything magnaflow makes is going to sound/perform awesome.

i am also with the opinion that a full catback is not needed. replace the ****** stock Y pipe, and the muffler, and you are good to go.

Maybe it's the tranny fluid you been smelling, but If you do a y-pipe and muffler, Out side of the rear resonator,(which most people would toss). That IS a full cat back system imo.

I vote for the Borla XR-1.... Love it

No catback though, all they doe is make it look pretty so unless you want to spend the extra $$$ to make it look nice with the tips cpming out the sides/back etc. there is no point in doing one.

Borla is pricey but from what I hear is probably Best and is offered by Mopar for some Chrysler Vehicles. Waitin on an in person listen before I will consider a trade up to that. MagnaFlow is what i got now and I am real Happy. It doesn't wake up the neighbors in the morning!
