Performance upgrades for 2013 Ram

I want to improve the hp and tq of my truck without spending too much money. My truck already has lowered suspension, 285 50 20 gt radials, k&n cai, and a superchips dashpaq programmer. I'm running anywhere from a 4.8-5.5 second 0-60 depending on road conditions and grade. I would love to get a procharger kit, but that's a little too much money to put into a truck with 120k+ miles. I'm looking at spending around $3000 to make my truck faster. What mods do you guys suggest?

FYI: I have the 5.7 hemi w/ the 6 speed transmission and 3.55 gears.

Consider a cam upgrade and some headers.

If you want a procharger, get a procharger... There's always someone willing to snatch up a used procharger for 1 to 1.5K off. Way easier to get some money back than heads/cam.

LT headers, ported TB and underdrive pulley are cheaper options, but you won't get near the output.

A set of 4:10 gears would be my first mod and would give the most noticeable improvement over anything short of a blower. Also would be the most expensive upgrade unless you knew someone or could do the work yourself. I like the custom tune idea(Jay Greene) pretty well too.

I would swap out the superchips for a Diablo w/ a custom Jay Greene tune. That would be a night & difference. The Superchips tune leaves alot to be desired. Also I would swap out the 3.55's for 4.10's and get a set of headers. Those 3 things will pick up alot

I see acceleration in the video starting at 3 second mark and 61MPH at the 10 second mark. That's 7 seconds and about right.

Haha yeah that’s not even close to 4.8. Can’t trust those programmers. I had a guy claim he ran an 11 second quarter mile on a truck that had 35’s and a lift kit. That truck would easily be a 16+ second truck haha

I see acceleration in the video starting at 3 second mark and 61MPH at the 10 second mark. That's 7 seconds and about right.

He has a single cab... So 7 seconds isn't even close to "about right". Pretty sure that puts him at about 6 seconds stock. Someone else can probably confirm that better.

Yes tuners are not 100% acccurate and yes i watched the video several times and think 4.8 seems to be abit of a stretch. But acceleration starts just a tick before 4 seconds and ends at 9ish putting it in low 5's. He also said depends on grade, so he could be going down hill.

Either way, no need to tear down a new member. He was simply asking how to go faster, so he has his own benchmarks to see how he is progressing in his goal.

Thats a very good point you made! You can always recoup your money selling a used procharger later but I doubt you would remove a cam or heads if you sell the truck down the road.

Save your money for a blower. Headers are over rated if your naturally aspirated. You will not notice enough of a gain from headers unless you have a blower.

There's several things to consider about my truck, some of which I already mentioned. My truck is a regular cab, and that'll easily cut off a second compared to a crew cab. I have gt radials that allow me to take off traction control, brake torque it, and launch instantly with no spin. I have a light weight bed cover that cuts back significantly on drag. My truck is "tuned" to shift way harder than stock and allows me get more power out of each gear. If I remember correctly, I set the rev limiter at 6500 rpm and set 1st and 2nd gear to shift at 6300 rpm under a load. And no, I definitely do not run 4.8 0-60s everyday. The grade had slight fall where I did the 0-60, but it wasn't anything crazy. Ideally, my goal here is to get into that range. I'd love to consistently run in the 4s. Right now, I'm consistently staying in the 5s.

You need to take that thing to the local drag strip, and post your time slip. Then I'll cut you some slack.

I, and lot of other guys get a little tired of dude showing up here with 4 second trucks, or other guys that pull trailers, go off roading, and averaging 18 mpg over the life of their vehicle. It's called reality.

I timed the video, it took about 5.8 seconds. That’s still pretty respectable, nothing wrong with that. If you changed to a smaller tire and didn’t adjust the speedo, that might be throwing off the tuners estimate. But anyways, the mods listed about will help a lot and if you don’t want to spend a huge amount then headers, gears and a tune will help tremendously. All those will compliment future mods, like a cam or convertor. It takes a lot to move this big trucks

Listen, I get that you're a "senior member", so you probably feel entitled to beat down on my truck and call me a liar; but I know what I've got. I've already given a legitimate explanation as to why my truck ran that time. I'm not a super driver and have never claimed to be. That 4.8 0-60 was a one time thing for me. As I've quoted, "I'd love to consistently run in the 4s. Right now, I'm consistently staying in the 5s." THAT is the whole reason I reached out to everyone on this forum. I'm asking for help, not criticism.
