I like the look without the liners. Plus easier to work on. Anyone else done this? Thoughts?

Your engine bay will hate you for that. That is for sure.

I do like the look though. Seen it a few times on 2WD street trucks.

I wouldn't do it personally. If you live in a dry climate maybe. But for me in the snow belt, no way. Not to mention gravel roads of any kind.

My 08 had the rear liners installed from new and I had 0 rust issues in the 7 yrs I had it.

I see no positives in this. When I had a Chevy I wanted rear liners.

Just my opinion but, I think it looks like some juvenile mod that's all bad but he thinks it looks good. Bad idea.

Don't try to out engineer the engineers. Your PCM is swingin' in the breeze, exposed not only to rain, snow and salt but, to gravel, rocks,

Just my opinion.....it's your truck.

I had to replace my pcm because it was damaged due to its location. That was with the liner. Without I can't imagine how much stuff would get messed up.

I would not remove them either, too much gets exposed if you do.

Just look at the passenger side pic...Thats your PCM thats going to be getting hit with direct shots of water...if you lived in the desert, maybe....
I live in Phoenix, AZ, the heart of the desert, and I wouldn't do that under any circumstances. Might as well remove the hood too for better airflow.

I like the look but would hate the mechanical issues. Too much stuff hanging out there in the mud crud and beer...

On a daily driver, leave them on. On a truck you show and you got lots of chrome or if everything on the undercarriage is painted and detailed and you want to show it off, then sure take them off. Things like chrome headers, polished stainless exhaust, powder coated or painted suspension parts and or custom trans pan or differential cover or a polished drive shaft.
