Washed the truck today and found a rust streak from the passenger side rear door rubber gasket. Checked the Driver side and i can see it starting there too.

Looks like something in the seal, better be or this could be a big problem.

Its going in on Monday anyway for something else but this will be noted and they are going to fix this.

I'd rather fix it myself, that way it is done right. Pop off seal and brush chassis saver or POR15 on it and never worry again. Of course first look under the truck, if no rust down below you are good to go. I once ordered a Jeep from another dealership, and it came with some rust too. I was a little chapped, but as I get older I have learned not to sweat the small stuff.

Brand new Jeep rust

after chasis saver

same thing happened on my last chevy. its just the wire core inside the weather stripping its not actually the body that is rusting. salt/water get in the middle there and start to rust. easy fix get the dealer to order you a new rubber weather stripping.no biggie nothing to worry about. you'll have to get that done roughly every 2 years here in Ont. they dont build them like they use too.

Mines a 2012 bought in november and I have rust on each bumper and the rust under is ridiculous for a truck thats only been driven a few months. I painted most with a protective enamel but still ridiculous. Dodge needs to step up their game in that aspect.

Let us know what is done!

its the metal in the rubber gasket. I bet the truck its self is fine. The rubber gasket that is on the bed between the cab and bed on my truck is doing the same thing.

In Minnesota only way to prevent rust is to put in storage. Drive the hell out of mine and surface rust stays away pretty well by driving in long grass during hunting season :)

Sorry for your troubles and with all do respect to you and your Ram driving a vehicle other than the summer months in "Ontario" or East of Kenora for that Matter a vehicle stands no chance against the Humidity and all that Salt on the Roads. But yes thats BS and should not happen on a new Vehicle.

You might wanna just put some antisieze inside the strip channel and seal the gap where they join with black RTV.

Thanks guys. That's why i love these boards.... quick help and reassurances when needed. I just got really mad seeing it this afternoon when i had no issues with the 2010.

I know the Ontario winters are killers on vehicles with the excessive amount of salt they use here but 3 mths is not acceptable considering it's on a visible show area.

Like said...it's just the metal part inside the rubber seal. Clean it up and put some silicone in those joints and it won't come back.

For rust I use both Chassis saver (that's the stuff Stacey David uses from magnetpaints.com.) or POR15. If you join the Jeep forum he gives huge discounts, usually buy a Monsta liner get chasis saver free. Plus he is a great dude and real helpful. If you just had a little rust, Por15 sells a small size perfect for small jobs, it comes in a kit with a metal conditioner that also helsp the process. Both paints you just paint right over rust and they are great. You can't go wrong with either, way better then Rustoleum.

Google KROWN... it's the best rust prevention out there, but unfortunately it's only in Canada, so not everybody lives close enough to get it.

They're in NY too. There's a KROWN rust prevention center just down the road from me.

Look between the bed and the cab also. There is one similar seal on the bed and my 2010 had bad rust on it.
