I have a 2022 Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi - not the etorque engine- I get 16 mpg-
Is there anything that can be done to increase gas mileage?
Jim
What gear ratios do you have? I have 1a 17 RAM 1500 5.7 with 392 gear ratio. In winter 16 to 17 mpg summer 17 to 18 mpg. I idle a lot and that effects it a good deal as well. I use only top tier gas as cheap gas causes gun up and messes with the throttle body. I use only 87 octane, change my engine filter about every 20 K miles,We have 2 miles of dirt road to go out and back in home.

Is that governed? I've never had mine near that (honest, officer!).

Really, to be honest, I haven't. Though I did have my '79 Chevy K10 SB/Stepside (on 33x12.50 tires - which were somewhat large for the time) up to about 120 one time. Emphasis on the One Time...
Yea, roundabout. Gotten it to 108 once but usually chokes at 106.
I love those old square body trucks. Driver centric interior is almost perfect. The old Chevy 350 just tows so well.
Had a scatpack for a short time. Drag limited 180. No governor. Manual trans. Third gear would redline at 96 and forth would get you close to 130! Fun car.

I'm a bit of a wimp. I have a Boxster that has a top speed somewhere about 175. 3rd (of 6) gear will do 100. Never been to triple digits. Though I did drive a 911 (on an UnLimited part of the Autobahn in Germany) to 135. TBH, even with no traffic, that was scary. I think it takes a bit (Ok quite a bit) of practice to make 100+ MPH seem "safe and normal".

I’m jealous! Always wanted a boxster. Dream would be to have a 911 turbo but at 200k, that’s not achievable. Or a corvette split window with a big, nasty 572… guy can dream.
What the Porsche lacks is weight. Maybe the reason for feeling uncomfortable over 100. Challenger does not. At 130, felt like it was going 80. I’m only assuming as that car is out of my financial reach. Maybe one day.

Consider yourself lucky. I have a 5.7 with eTorque an average 12 to 13 with primarily unban driving. when I fill up and head out on the highway I may get 14 to 15. I really don’t think the eTorque helps and I also have the 3.96 rear cogs which also hurts my mileage

lift your foot a bit?
I get very good mileage with mine, but its older, 8 sp 5.7, 3.9 gears, club cab.
But 75m/h in Canada will get you a ticket unless you are on a divided hi way
I am usually about 115km , about 70mph

I may have already commented, but on secondary roads at 45-55 over a 2-4 hour trip I can get 18-19 mpg. And that's with, per my sig, 5" lift and 35x12.50s. 20+ is definitely attainable on a stock truck, in the right circumstances and with judicious restraint from the right foot (both of which are requirements for the EPA rating).

Agreed, slower is much less expensive.

I avoid large highways whenever possible. Saving 10 minutes of travel time is very bad for the mileage.

Wow, your garage is VERY similar to my tractor/Porsche garage (my truck won't fit...).

Can't quite see the whole thing here, but...

Sorry to hear that. Biggest enemy of your engine. Big brother at work.
