Had the dealer install remote start on my 15 Express when I bought it. I find the range is not very good.

I found it odd that there was no antenna stuck to the windshield by the rear view mirror. All my other vehicles had that, including both aftermarket and OEM remotes.

Not much I can do I guess, just live with it.

hold it next to your face. Gives it extra range. Im not sure where the strongest point would be. Serious! If you dont believe me, google it. I do it all the time . Close to the chin is best i think

I think I 'll pass. Guy at work used to do that all the time, hold it under his chin with his mouth open. He said the signal bounced all around the inside of his skull then out his mouth (somebody call the white coats).

It's just the fact that instead of pressing the button at waist level you raise it to head level that helps. Gets you above all the cars in the lot, I guess.

In addition to the short range. If I'm inside a building, or just inside the doors at the exit, it wont work at all. My previous ones would work even if I was sitting in a restaurant paying my bill.

I'm used to it now, and just use it accordingly.

As I mentioned before, I guess it's because there is no external antenna.

Factory ones never work like aftermarket. most if not all factory only are good for about 100-150'. however even aftermarket ones are made to accept interference. it all depends on the interference around you.

How far we talking? I have never had an issue with mine.
Maybe change the batteries in the remote.

Changing batteries will make it better with my past experience. I installed a Fortin remote start module which I got $37 used and retained the factory remote. Changed the batteries and I can remote start from across a parking lot.

Strangely I unlock the doors from a few feet away as I see no reason to pop the locks from 10 miles out.

Are u talking about the uconnect app? That app only works when it wants to. I work in a huge building and its a long walk to the exit and across the parking lot. Being here in NY the temps are very cold. When it works, its great to have. But, at least half the time, it doesnt! Ive tried reinstalling, logging out and back on, etc.

Luckily mine has an app on phone!!!

That would be great news if the thread was about unlocking the doors, oops :)

Exactly. Remote starting doesn't involve unlocking the doors (in case you missed the point). The doors remain locked with a remote start.

The range is short, I agree. I tried changing the battery and it added maybe 25' to the range. I still have to hold it over my head when there are other vehicles between the remote and the truck.

Mine seems to be hit or miss.

I'm about 100 or so feet from my truck and inside a building with cinderblock walls. It will work 9 out of 10 times. the tenth time is probably human error!:)

Always figured it had something to do with fillings in the teeth and signal amplification. :anitoof:

The app is cool but the delay is ridiculously long... so plan ahead, way ahead.

As for range the OEM on my Sport is crap also maybe 100'.
