Hello Mr. Jimmy07 - I am going to try to get this to you because you seem to have a good handle on this. All other pros on this chiming in will be appreciated. I was looking thru remote start info (on the Ram 2500HD forum by mistake I guess) and saw where their trucks could get remote start and remote tailgate opening by buying a key FOB with the two new buttons for that. I tried to send send a message there, but the message got 'moved' and lost because my truck is not a 2500HD. So here goes from what I learned there.

I have a 2022 Ram 1500 LoneStar truck - NO factory Remote Start and NO remote tailgate release - I of course would love both.

I have the Hood Latch warning light on the center gauges AND a Push Button Start. That is all ya'll were saying on the other forum as needed to make their HD's have Remote Start and Tailgate release - IF IF - they purchased a FOB with the Remote Start and Tailgate button and had it programed by the Dealership. AND purchase Alfaobd with connect cable to set Remote Start to 'YES' - I understood their tailgates would remote release with the new FOB only. Heck, I would be happy with a remote tailgate.

Will this same process work on my 2022 1500 RAM LoneStar? IF IF so, do I have the process and the equipment info correct or do I need to do something different? I would be new to Alfaobd also, so any hints, steps in there or code info would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long post and thank you for getting this far :)... I could really use your knowledge on this. I am not up to getting that 'factory addon' and taking seats out and all that.

It might be that the folks with the proper knowledge have not seen/read your posts. I do not have enough knowledge/skill to provide any assistance. I have only done very simple changes to my truck, but I was able to read many hundreds of posts, and watched numerous YouTube videos, and took copious notes on the steps to accomplish my desired goals.

So I would not say that you have not been banned, as I was able read all of the posts on this topic.
Read on several forums about AlfaOBD that you can, watch videos and take notes, and try a few of the more simple tasks and get some practice with those tasks.

1st lesson is to learn how to make a backup copy and save the file before making any changes. If things go badly, you can restore the previous settings.
2 Write down the settings you change and the starting and ending values as well in a notebook. Just in case the backup fails.
3 Change only one thing at a time, so that you know what failed and how to change it back if something goes wrong.

Good luck on your mission. :)

HughS - I have 2022 Warlock. I would love to hear the answer, as I would like to implement remote start to my truck. I have the Fobik and I don't know how much of a difference this makes.

Thanks for your reply, but - I was asking in my original post if the information put out in the 2400 HD Discussion about Remote Start applied to my 1500 LongStar. It was a great discussion on how to implement Remote Start and Remote Tailgate on a 2500HD, I was wanting to know if the same procedure would apply and work on my 2022 1500 LoneStar... I appreciate the AlfaOBD information, but need the other information before that would come into play. thanks again for the reply.

Yep, I can't seem to get the attention of @Jimmy07 who seemed like the guru on the Remote Start discussion on the 2500HD page. My truck has all the requirements he was saying was needed to get it to work with a new KeyFob.. but he disappeared or I am just making newby mistakes with my post. But I will keep trying. Thanks for the reply, maybe we will get something that helps sooner or later.

You just need the key fobs with remote start and tailgate release. Use JScan instead of alfaobd, that way you can program the fob yourself.

damn...that was simple and quick!

on a side note, i was showing my wife how to drop the tail gate via the key fob, and, not having my glasses on i hit the BRAKE button. Well, she drove off and came back like two minutes later and said the truck has no power. I jumped in and saw the big red BRAKE light on...lol...naturally i had to ask her why she put the E brake on.

I eventually told her it was my mistake.

There’s no brake button on any ram key fob.

Perfect -- Can you provide that link to the FOB you recommended before. I guess I am able to go JSCAN and find that one setting you spoke about when using alfaobd to set the Remote Start to 'Yes' and find it in JScan. If you have a link to the key fob you recommend for my 2022 LoneStar Ram and any connecting "Readers" and "harnesses' I need to connect to the truck and program the KeyFob and make the setting changes, I would appreciate it very much. Thank you for your reply and am glad to talk with you finally. Thanks for answering my questions.

That button lowers the air suspension to the exit height. You press it twice in quick succession. I have it on my 19 Laramie Longhorn FOB. Use it all the time and has nothing to do with E-Brake. You probably have the E-Brake set to automatically engage when the truck is put in park.

I have gotten not a single reply to my similar post. Waiting on foxwell to tell me whether the Nt710 will program the fobs at 80 bucks or not.

I can play @Jimmy07 game I have 3 obd scanners. Why buy more a one time use linker?
Just looking for an experienced reply.
TIA Ron
