Possibly thinking about buying a 4th generation 5.7 4x4.

I've found a 2012 I like but it's got 112,000 miles.

But I just realised the zf 8 speed started in 2013 is the 8 speed better than the older trans?

And was there any major changes between 12 and 13 besides the trans anything in the interior?

Anything else to look at / be on the watch out for?

And lastly does does anybody have over 200,000 on their 4th gens with the 5.7 4x4 combo?

I just picked up a 2012 with 112,000 one owner, and he took to a Ram dealer for all the maintenance.
He kept up with everything runs great, no worries at all.

Good luck!

Guess I should have added the person is 18,000 for the 2012 long horn but it seems to be close to loaded

Grille and fog lights are a little different to look at. Trans is a big thing for me and to be sure I had 3.92 gears.

I have a 2011 ram 5.7 6 speed with 100,000 miles. 2x4. Only had to change tires and replace idler pulley. Making grinding noise so that fixed it. Have not replaced spark plugs yet. Love my Hemi.

My 2014 5.7 has the 6 speed trans with 3.55 rear and currently at 75,000. No issues and so far only oil changes and tire replacement. Go for a test drive and if you like it buy it.

My 2011 has the 5 speed and 5.7 with 113k on it. The only major issues have been the exhaust manifolds (first right, now the left) and rust in the rear wheel wells. Other repairs have been simple things like the blower motor which was about 30 bucks to replace. Other than that, I've stuck to the maintenance schedule and been fine.
I have 3.55 gears and while the truck is a little slow, it has plenty of power when you need it. The 8 speed trans is better than the 6 or 5, but they all get the job done.

If your budget allows it, get one with the 8 speed. You wont regret it. Its a fantastic transmission for many reasons including super smooth shifting, reliable as hell, built strong, and fuel savings although minimal.

I've been looking for 8 speeds but I can't find any below 25,000 for a crew cab and around 30,000 for a long horn with leather
