Hello all, new to the forum. I'm having trouble with my auto power windows. They quit working and mechanic said the computer indicated the window motors had a high temp readin of 176 degrees and they quit working because of that. The mechanic ran a temp scan and it didn't indicate any heat at all, and it wasn't warm to the touch. But the scanner doesn't indicate what the specific location or problem is. Anyone have an answer?

Pull the inner door panel, you can work everything with it off, just as well as when it is on.
Once it is OFF of the Drivers Door, you can plug the Master switch back in

If you don't want scratches, use Plastic Trim Tools, instead of a screw driver, or at least cover the metal with tape

Lousy video, but you get the idea

better video

I recently encountered this on a GMC. The driver's door module (DDM) showed excessive amperage draw from the window motor. I'd also seen it elsewhere. In many cases, you can buy wet silicon spray and lubricate the front and rear glass run channels and rectify the problem. This particular GMC needed both window regulator/motor assemblies to fix the problem, though.

You can monitor this parameter with a good scan tool.
