Looking at used (25K miles or more) warlocks (and other models), I can see that the standard driver seat starts looking bad (flat-ish foam and material wrinkling) on the outside bolster. Not seeing that wear on the premium seat versions.

Can anyone confirm if there is a foam difference between standard/premium, or is it just the cover material?

Anyone "fix" the standard foam/material?

Thanks!!!

I don't know if different types of foam such as stiffer or thicker are used in different trim levels. But it is certainly possible to have different types and volume based on differences in seat design. My last SLT trim from 2003 was comfy right up to when I sold it in 2019. My 1994 got uncomfortable about 2 years in so I had the foam replaced with more supportive material but kept original cloth covering. So far so good on my 2018 Tradesman. I also think that wear and such is somewhat unique to the prior owner so someone who is 145 lbs may not really wear a entry level trim interior seat as much as a 300 lb linebacker impacts a Limited seat.

I can say that the seats in my 2012 SLT and my 2018 Big Horn felt thinner than the seats in both my 16 and 18 Laramies. On those seats the bottom cushions seemed to flatten out relatively quickly whereas neither of my Laramie seats have ever done it.

I like to look at loads of data. I have looked at probably hundreds of trucks with decent condition pictures that are for sale nationwide, using online ads that include the VIN. Using the VINs I pull up the window stickers and they indicate if they were built with a standard or premium seat. I had very good alignment with worn condition and standard seat. I noticed it since I was really looking for ones that had a power seat.

I had an idea. What if I take a VIN from a standard and a VIN from a premium, and look up MoPar replacement foam. Seems like this left foam cushion part number fits everything, even Laramie.

If the foam is the same, it must come down to the sturdiness of the cover. I think I have my answer.

The seats in my 16 laramie are uncomfortable on long rides. Where as the seats in my 2024 warlock so far are very supportive and comfortable on the same drive. Nashville to Montana

I'm liking the Warlock seats but, would not get another laramie with the premium seats

My opinion

There's a stark difference between the 4th Gen and 5th Gen trucks. I thought my 2015 & 2018 seats were uncomfortable...my 2022 DT is MUCH more comfortable. For the 4th Gen trucks, Geno's Garage sells a seat cushion replacement that was more supportive and a little better. It was pretty easy to replace.

On my 2011 laramie I replaced the foam and lower cover on the drivers seat at around 200,000 kms. Was like new again and the lower colour matched to the rest after a few months of break in. Pretty common to wear out especially if you slide in and out like I do. Funny, I Find the 4th gen seat really comfortable once I set the lumbar right for me and I do 12 hour+ drives a couple times a month.

Does your Warlock have standard or premium seats?

Laramie seats are "leather trimmed". Not all leather like the Ltd and Ltd Longhorn.

Thanks for the precise corrections, however they are leather. I bought the seat covers, from katizan, I know they are leather, cause if they are not, then they have a problem. The original laramie seat covers didn't hold up well (pealing around the edges) and were changed by the 2nd year of ownership.

My comments were not about the covers but about the seats themselves. The 24 premium cloth seats sit better have better support and are not as flat as the laramie seats on the bottom seat. They hold you in place better and don't have the tendency to let you slide around as much. This is a difference in the seat bottom not the back or the side bolsters.

I'll also add, my 14 RT seats, even though they are almost identical to my 16 laramie seats, sit better than my laramie. Why I don't know as the seat frames and flatness of the seat bottom are identical. Those seats are factory original With factory covers so are leather trimmed seats.

People might say it's the Katzkin covers but I can safely say that's not the case. The seats sat funny before and after install, and have since mile 1, as I've owned the truck since new. I attribute the issue to seat foam, however I don't want to remove and replace it until necessary.

Well think about it - 25k miles on seats from a 260 lb big dude is going to be much rougher on the foam and wear than a fit and trim 170 lb guy who put 80k miles on his seats - Also take into account how many times the seat is cleaned etc

I have seen seats that have 'low miles' on Laramies and Limiteds and are flat as can be, because the owner was obviously hefty
