I have an 01 1500 with the 360 in it, and was wondering if you can notice any significant difference when programming/chipping your truck? Is it worth it? Power and gas mileage increase? And what ones do you use?

I am currently running a superchips 3715. I noticed a difference in power and mpgs. I mainly use the performance setting. and towing one.

There are also alot of good reviews on a SCT tuned by Hemifever

I looked at sc's, it says you have to run premium or mid grade gas, do you actually save money in then end on gas or does it even out? And do you feel it was worth it?

I have an SCT that I run on 87 octane. It runs great and I got about a 1 mpg mileage increase. I can also run 89 octane in it for a bit more power.

I couldn't run the 93 tune on the 91 octane gas availible here and felt there wasn't a mileage increase that justified the cost of gas. Sean (Hemifever) built me an 89 tune that I can run on 87 (pings when I floor it) or 89 if I want the extra top end.

Around town where I do most of driving, the SCT eliminates torque limiting and gave me a decent low end boost. I considered other tuners but reviews suggest they only help the mid range and top end because they "piggy back" the stock tune. An SCT actually removes and stores your stock tune and replaces it with an entirely new one. The SCT also can be custom tuned if you add other mods like cams , etc.

Oh...SCTs are cheaper than thier competitors. BTW I'm not knocking the other brands, I believe that the SCT offers more value for the buck.

Disadvantage? SC and Hypertech allow you to set your speedometer for tire size. The SCT doesn't.

I have had an SCT in my 01 since Feb. 2010 & am completely happy with the power increase & mileage increase. Like Okiespaniel said the elimination of the torque management in the trany is probably the best upgrade a Ram can get.
It is NOT a waste of money to get the SCT from Sean.

i have had superchip 3815,hypertech max energy, jet chip, and sct. sct is the best in my opinion. superchip 2nd and hypertech 3rd. all made a difference in power though. even the jet chip which everyone knocks, but it was the worst.

has any one come across a broad band setup? for any one that wondering what broad band setup is instead of reflashing trims to meet your power needs this setup has more precise sensors that act as a live feed wich allows for quick precise tuning by an ecm uasally you have to replace pcm sensor and harness i plan on building up my engine so all the cummins guys quit laughing at my gasser
