Haha. I was confused about the bolts at first but then I realized they were for the ypipe.

I might have have put too much gasket maker. What do y'all think?

Anyway. I finished the driver side but I'll have to finish the other tomorrow as we have some family plans.

Flex head ratcheting wrenches are your friend.

I bought a set of ratcheting wrenches specifically to install my headers. When it showed up, I had 2x 8/16” in the set and no 3/8”. Guess which one I needed? That said, I wish I had got flex head, especially since I used Felpro gaskets with the heat shield. It was a complete nightmare to install.

Ok I'm done with it. After starting the truck I could hear a tick sound and it seems to go away after the truck warmed up. I still have it up on jacks so I will let it run for about 20 min. And this afternoon or tomorrow morning I'll retorque the bolts. Hopefully that sound won't come back

I took these pics after it was running for 15 min. Headers turning bluish, that's normal.

The only real issue I had was the dipstick tube. It didn't fit without it pressing hard against the headers. So I had to bend it and had to zip tie it out of the way. Kooks sent a spacer for the tube to come out about 3/4" but there was no way I could get it to clear the headers with it. Anyway it's ok for now. I'll try to figure something out for that. bab8248a03b92ca4c8bd392964114885.jpg

Well after letting cool it down for several hours, I turned it on again. I heard a noise again but it's not a ticking sound, I think it's just the normal engine sounds that I probably don't normally hear cuz the wheel wells are on and the hoods closed. Anyway, It's too hot outside in Houston today, and I have the day off tomorrow so I'll retorque the bolts in the morning, and put it all back together. I'll take it on the freeway tomorrow and see how it feels.

Found 4 manifold bolts kinda loose and all ypipe bolts were kinda loose too. Got it all tightened up again tested for leaks with the vacuum method. Took it on the freeway and all seems good. Job done.

Now on to finding wheels and getting my maxtrac lift installed.
