Are there 2x4 slots built into the beds like the plastic liners have?

Go look in your bed. The shape you see now is what you'll get. It will just be covered with a layer of goop. Nothing added, nothing removed.

I've got the cheap plastic liner from the factory.

I was wondering if there are also 2x4 grooves in the bed like the bedliner.

If you go with the spray in you can pick up a decent cargo bar at Harbor Freight

My 2013 has them but I also have the cargo management system with spray in liner, not sure if that makes a difference.

How well does a 2x10 (or 12) fit in the grooves? Does it fit snug?

The POS liner I have has grooves at the bottom of the slot rendering the slot ruthless IMO.

Anyhow, I've got less than five months to make my previous flag mount fit in my new RAM.

So far Tundra bed liner.... 1 RAM bed liner..... 0

How hard would it be to remove the liner and check underneath? You may also be able to go to a dealership and find a 2014 without the liner if you want to see one for yourself. I have a 2013 Express with a bare bed. I can flip up the topper and take a couple pics for you if you'd like. Where are you wanting to mount the 2x?

That's not a bad idea, I have to swing by the dealership today to pick up my registration any way.

There's a slot in a 13. My truck bed was just painted and I had a local shop spray the liner. After you spray it though you'll lose a little of the groove. A lot of it will depend on how good you cut your board I'm guessing. A 2X10 should fit nicely.
