Hey, so I've had a Raceland cutout sitting around for a while. Took my truck in today to get a muffler and exhaust tip swap, so figured may as well throw this thing on. Anyways, get a call from the shop that the cutout doesn't really fit and it has nowhere to dump. He said he could probably make it work, but would have to reroute everything and of course that would mean more $$ (already have to make up new tailpipes to work with the 18" tips). I just told him to hold off then. It's the correct cutout and I haven't really heard of any fitment issues from any of you guys, so should I just try taking it somewhere else? The shop is supposed to be reputable and has been around a while. Or are there more parts or something that I need?

That's what I thought, and that's what I'll do. Guess it should've been a red flag when they said they normally don't install customer supplied gear. Thanks fellas.

Like said, there shouldnt be any trouble installing this. Just mount it so that it dumps down and to the side of the truck, and anywhere between the y-pipe and the muffler.

Im sure they dont want to dump the exhaust under the truck because there is a very small chance CO could get in the cab and kill you. If you sat at idle for hours on end with no wind and a leaky cab. They would want to run a pipe out the side or back of the truck.:chair:

Just picked up the truck. He was able to install the cutout. But when I took a look, he had it welded in there, instead of using the clamps I had given him. And of course, it's running parallel with the muffler not dumping down. Do I need a turndown or should I take it back?

On the other note, not sure if it's a combination of going with bigger tips/removing resonators/swapping my Borla for the 14" Magnaflow, but the drone I have now almost hurts my head,

i run raceland on mine and bought a turndown pipe from summit and just welded it on there to get the exhaust out from under the cab. They're cheap, maybe $25, as for the drone... keep it in V8 mode or close it!

I'll look into that, thanks.

I actually have the MDS disabled, the drone is there pretty much all of the time. So not sure if it's just the nature of the beast with the 14" Magnaflow coupled with my AR headers. My buddy just had the same muffler installed a few days ago and you can't hear the muffler inside the cab at all (he doesn't have headers). Either that or something with the way the guy ran the new muffler (it's pretty much a new system from the y pipe back now).

I would check for leaks in the system if your drone is that bad. Take a leaf blower and stick it in your tailpipe, plug it all up with some rags. Check for leaks by hand first and if nothing then go around with a piece of hose - one end in your ear the other going over welded joints. If theres the smallest leak anywhere youll hear it with that hose.
