rack and pinion swap?

I've got a 94 1/2 ton and all the steering linkage is trashed, probably from running 44" tires a while back, the ball joints tie rod ends drag link everything needs replaced. After pricing everything I realized it would be about half the price to get a brand new rack and pinion unit and fab a mount for it. Just wanted to see if anybody done this or seen it, and if so what's the best way to do it
