Radio Not Working During Summer

Hey all, new to the forum.

2006, Ram MegaCab, 5.9 Cummins

Every summer, when the temps get above say 85, my stock stereo cuts out. Power won't come on at all...well, sometimes it will. It's a crap shoot. I can turn the truck off and back on 4 or 5 times and eventually get it to come on, but then if I park it, I go through the same thing again. If it's on, it stays on. The issue is only when starting the truck.

That's odd. I personally haven't experienced any issues related to heat with my truck. And it's been over 85 here everyday for the last couple of weeks. Hopefully someone will have some info for ya soon. And welcome to the forum!

Thanks Chuck. Google results showed that auto-electric connections definitely expand and contract with temp changes, potentially causing problems, but nothing directly related to my issue.

Hope someone's heard of it. Thanks again.

Welcome to RF.

You could be losing a ground to the stereo. Is it stock?
Maybe a loose ignition connection or assembly.
Have you pulled the radio and poked around while it won't work?
Just a few suggestions.

OK, has anyone had their stock radio stop working sometimes, but worked fine other times? If so, what was the fix?

Know what? It's been warming up here in So Cal and this is my first summer with my 07, last night I noticed it would cut out, then come back on. On a 15 minute drive it did that 4 times. Some lasted longer than others. Hopefully someone has some answers.

Not really a fix but a cause.

Sounds like it could be the same issue but unfortunately there's no fix listed.

I could replace the stock head, which I don't have a problem doing, except for the fact that I'll be surprised to find an aftermarket stereo that'll look right in my dash setup.
