Hi forum,

I am looking for any advice/ideas as to why I might be experiencing intermittent shaking while driving on the freeway. I have 19' classic 4x4 with a 2.5" leveling kit, 20x12 -44 wheels and 33x12.50 A/T tires. Sometimes I will drive to work and back and the truck will drive smooth. The next day going to work, the bench seat console will be shaking a little, then a lot and then smooth out a bit then go back to shaking. It is very random. I have had the wheels and tires road force balanced and aligned twice with zero improvement. Not sure what could be the matter. I have considered getting rear upper control arms to see if it corrects this issue. Also heard something about the pinion angle? If anyone has experienced anything similar please let me know. The truck drove perfect prior to having the wheels/suspension done.

Thank you

Level kit possibly, UCA’s/CV angle, rims, tires out of round....could be a bunch of things.

do you still have your stock wheels just to throw them and take the wheels completely out of the equation?

I wouldn't start throwing parts at it just yet.... have you googled the tires you have and see if there maybe some kind of an issue with that tire when the tread connects with certain pavement? Just ideas don't know how in depth you have looked as of yet.

Here’s a question, how many half ton trucks have you rolled in with 12 wide wheels and all terrain tires that are smooth? If they were, it was for an extremely short period or had passenger tires on.

Looks sweet though, enjoy the wheel bearing replacement every 30k miles!

The hubs are one piece and are swapped pretty easy, but yes the bigger the wheel and more stance you have, the quicker they will go out.

I have a 19 classic also with same issue have not come across with what's causing it, already swap to bilsteins all around, front upper control arms, balance check driveshaft, balance tires 5 diff times and diff ways, 4 alignments, true tires help a bit but vibration still there, install rear shocks spacers and raise truck bit give it a bit rake no fix, I'm running 20x10 -18 offset on toyos RT 33x12.5x20, all the issue started when installed aftermarket wheels and tires I have even replace 2 wheels and no fix, also I have hub centrics.ecec4fcbbb17e463ed172df966c13024.jpg

What are your driveshaft angles? Sounds like it's still a drive angle problem 100%. I'd say it's not a wheel or tire problem at all. You road forced the tires. If there were any pull any problems physically with the wheel or tire the road force would catch that its kinda the whole idea of the road force.

Also wheel alignment has nothing to do with vibration the alignment companies are taking your money smiling. Alignment only causes pull and tire wear.

Ok well all of those look Good. Another question does it only do it at higher speeds? I've seen cases when the torque converter locks up it sets a vibration that may be something to pay attention to.

Do You have a good scanner or know anyone with one? I'd say hook it up and try activating the torque converter lockup as you are driving. Turn it on and off If it starts vibrating locked up and stops turned off you have your answer.

My truck kind of does this, and it's a bone stock 2wd RCSB. The dealer replaced 3 tires, and it still does it. It rides pretty smooth, but the center jump seat thing can get shaking a good amount, then other times doesn't much at all. Mine seems to get going about 70-75mph on the freeway, or at any speed on ****tier roads.

went through the same deal with my 2014 . Changed everything that has been listed so far and done all of the rebalancing and swapped tires all on stock wheels. All said and done the only way I got rid of the vibe was get rid of the 35-12.50-20 BFG KO2s for a 20lbs lighter per tire, 1/2" shorter ,1 " narrower Nitto Terra grappler xl rated I think it is . I can drive all day on any road and you would not know you were in the same truck. For that reason I use the same tires on my present truck lifted 3". Some shops around here will not put leveling kits on a Ram 1500 as that is what they say causes it . I say it may be a contributing factor but not the only reason as I never lowered the 2014 and the vibes quit when the tires were lighter. It's all well documented on this forum as is others. Some trucks were bought back by Ram, some found other reasons but most have never really wrote of a positive cure. I wish you luck as it can be frustrating as harmonics can be a combination of a few things that cause it.

I hope everybody is getting a Road force balance on all those new aftermarket wheels/tires. I also tend to watch the tire installer and ask how much weight he put on each tire.....when they start talking more than 5 ounces I tend to get a little concerned. Also watch out for those Chinese tires, they generally don't ride as well or balance as good as the more well known brands.

I only notice it when it snows here and I have to engage "4wd auto" to help get up my driveway.
Then the next day I notice a small vibration starting at about 25mph thats when I realize 4wd is still engaging, and when I turn it off the vibration stops.

I don't think road force takes into consideration whether the wheels is lug centric vs hub centric does it? So if the wheel is balanced as hub centric when it's lug centric the wheel migth be doing something different when it's mounted in the truck hub.
