The 14.1@99 was an 8 speed truck, so it was likely a couple tenths faster than an 09-13.

For what it's worth, my 2011 Express with 3.92 gears went 14.37@94mph straight off the showrooom floor. That's the closest thing I have to a baseline.

I'm confident that with a real tire on the back of the R/T, and racing on a day where the wind isn't blowing directly at the starting line at 15-18mph, my truck is likely a 13.3-4. Guess we'll see though.

That's a pretty fast baseline.

Yeah mine on stock trim, tool box full of stuff and not worrying about weight i was at 14.6 bone stock.... pretty much how i drive it around. My biggest problem is traction. Even on aprepped track and new street rubber on them heavy ass 22's i still cant get traction through the 60'

Still havent picked up wheels and slicks, been to busy and didnt want them just sitting around drying out. Hopefully i can make it to the track tomorrow for some baseline passes in the charger.... ram needs to much adjusted and tires for a track day

14.6 is still pretty fast even considering the weight added--so one would assume all that weight taken out would closely match BlakDak's time above I suspect. :D

R/T is a nice truck. They do come loaded with a bunch of extra electrical gadgets and creature comforts if that's what you like. I bought an Express which can be had with the same drive train minus the extra weight and all the extra stuff that can break down.

Actually its funny you mention it because I am anti-technology and whatnot. I only ticked 2 options on my Charger because I cannot stand technology / useless-to-me add-on features. If I could buy a cheaper trim model and have the R/T badge'd grille, R/T wheels, and the rear bumper exhaust I'd probably prefer that. Just don't know if that would save me any $$$ in the end since I would want all the drivetrain stuff. ;)

If you're anti-technology, get an Express.

You can get them with the 5.7/8HP/3.92 trak-lock so as far as powertrain goes it's the same as a 14-up R/T. The Express also comes with the color matched bumpers and dual exhaust so really all you need is a $30 grill badge that snaps in and a set of wheels (aside from the headlights and taillights), and nobody would be the wiser until they looked inside.

Weight isnt as much my battle as traction is. Im guessing here but my times i think would be down to 14.2 or less with better hook up.... my 60' times suck but im making alot up on the big end.

I had a Dakota R/T CC back in the day with a few mods (long tubes, intake, etc..)

The worst thing was traction. I could run 13s all day with a good launch. I ended up putting on CalTracs but that was a leaf spring set up. These truck are Leaf-less

Shifting power back might be a tough.

Check your 60' time as you run. Then throw in 50lb sand bags 1 at a time until you see a nice drop that 60' time. Then compare that to your unloaded trap/ET.

The stock stall in these truck is only going to allow so much 60' so traction will soon not be the only limiting factor.

Thanks all. This thread has been helpful. If there is anything else worth mentioning from any other R/T owners it would be appreciated. For now this covers just about everything. I need to test drive one I think. I know the Challenger R/T is good the off-the-line so I need to find out how the RAM feels in person because after all numbers on paper (or text on screen) are just that, numbers. I want to experience it for myself and I'm sure it'll be what I'm expecting it to be so I'm not worried. :)

If I cannot find a good deal on an R/T (or find one at all lol) I just may take your suggestion and run with it. :D I won't be a douche bag, or, "that guy" if I up badge an Express to an R/T?

I agree with you there in the bolded part for sure. :)

I think you are weighing too much on a 0-60 time.. The Challenger and Ram are 100% different animals in every single way. The only thing that is close to the same is the motor and the 8.4 screen. You should figure out if you want a truck or a car first. If 0-60 is your biggest gripe go buy a Mustang GT.

Why, so he can wreck it coming out of a cars and coffee event? Why would you wish that on anyone?

Who cares? It's (will be) your truck...it's just a badge in the grill lol.

Oh, the R/Ts and Sports come with body colored mirrors and door handles too, vs black plastic for the Express.
