I've read most all the exhaust threads and have a question for those running Flowmasters. I don't have a shop around me that can bend 3.5" pipe so I'm wondering if I'm just stuck with the Mufflex kit? How are you all doing your flowmaster setups? Are you having 3.5" pipe bent or what? Also those of you that are removing your resonators how are you doing it. Are you having 3.5" pipe bent for that too? I haven't seen this spelled out anywhere so I thought I would ask. I think I like the sound of the Flowmaster better but not sure if I'm out of luck since no one can bend 3.5.

I pulled the stock muffler and resonator off my 2500 CC with the 6.4L in it back in April. I put in a Magnaflow muffler. We could not do a SI/DO setup as there is no room at all to run a pipe to the driver's side and up and over the axle tube on that side due to the self leveling rear airbag and plumbing.

The muffler fit just fine, no bending needed. As far as the reso delete, I had the shop do they best they could with a short piece of pipe.

There are pics and a bit more detail here:

That's a sharp lookin truck! I apologize if I missed it in the thread but what diameter pipe did they put back in in place of the resonator? Also which Magnaflow is that. It's not like the ones on the Mufflex kit.

That is a Magnaflow Single In / Single Out center in/offset out #12589.

It's all 3" in and out of the muffler. If you take a good look, the pipe out of the cat necks down to 3". Look at the pipe right downstream from the first clamp on the left. You can see the reduction. Here is the stock pipe:

Oh ok. Thank you.

So you are running new pipe except over the axle, which you kept and reused? Am I understanding correctly. And instead of the 3.5 you went to 3? If I'm totally lost it wouldn't be the first time lol

All the pipe you see, except for the piece that replaces the reso, is stock. All I did was replace the muffler and delete the reso. The pipe from the cat to the muffler and up and over the axle is the stock pipe (3" OD).

Take a look at the pic again. You'll see right out of the cat (to the left on the pic) the stock pipe necks down to 3".

Stock pipe behind the axle with reso removed (3" OD):

New 3" OD tail pipe with bezel cut at the end to replace the reso:

From the catalytic convert back the stock pipe is 3".

Ok I went out and measured mine and it is 3.5" pipe before and after muffler. Am I missing something, I'm not very mechanically inclined. And like I said even when I took it to my local shop they said they couldn't do it because they couldn't bend 3.5". They said they could just put a muffler but they didn't have any 3.5" mufflers in stock.

That's odd. Mine's 3".

You could always have them put in a reducer from 3.5 to 3.0 to the muffler and one at the other end. Won't hurt it none.

Did you find a 3.5" sized kit somewhere?

OK...that would work but you'd still have to come up with something bent properly to remove the resonator and replace it with pipe.

Your option may be to use that Mufflex kit, a 3.5" to 3.0" reducer and get a 3" tail pipe bent.

Another option that I've seen done (not a cheaper option) is to get a 4" dpf back diesel exhaust system and a 4"-3.5" reducer. From the videos I've found on YouTube they sound good
