I have a Pentastar Jeep Wrngler with the six speed manual with the 3.73 rear end and 285/70/17s. Right now, on its best day, it'll do 21 with the mixed driving that I do. I drive slow and smooth. I can't see the pick up being a whole lot more aerodynamic than the Jeep. The jeep weighes aprox 4100 lbs. I'd like to drive one of those trucks that supposedly gets 25-30 mpg.
I have a 13 Mustang with the 3.7L V6. Six speed manual, 3.31 rear end, alum driveshaft, CAI. That engine is, for all practical purposes, the same as the Pentastar. The Mustang weighs 3500 pounds. It won't get 25 mpg in the city. If you want to see 30 on the highway, you can't go over 60.
My salesman drove a Pentastar Ram for a while. He said 23 on the highway.
Like I said, I'd sure like do drive one of those magical 30 mpg Rams.
I have heard that these new engines, the Pentastar and Hemi take 30,000 to be fully broken in, and the fuel economy will go up just a tiny bit, until then. More wishful thinking?
