ram srt10 front brakes on 4th gen trucks

Has anyone thought about trying t swap the front brakes off of a srt10 truck on a newer 4th gen truck ? the wheel pattern is the same so why not just throw the disk caliper on. The only issue i can for see would be the caliper bracket not fitting in the oem location due to the bigger rotor and caliper. What is everyone's thoughts on this ?

From what I gathered, this is a good upgrade if it can be done, but you'd be better off swapping in a Hydroboost setup from a cummins. Much cheaper, might be slightly more difficult with hose routing, but I know SRT calipers go for a very high premium unless you got lucky. Hydroboost brakes are fantastic.

You would need to change out the spindles for the SRT10 spindles, the factory spindles have a differnt bolt mount and horn offset due to the difference in caliper mounts and rotor thickness. If you can find them off a wrecked truck then go for it, it'll bolt right into place if you get the caliper and spindle together. If you're buying everything remanufactured from somewhere like Rock Auto you're going to be spending ~$1000 for spindles and calipers and at that point you're in the price range of the SSBC Tri-power Big Brake kit.

As Andler stated, a hydroboost conversion will greatly improve your braking ability for a fraction of the cost and since you have an '09 with a power steering pump the conversion is easy. Here's my how-to if you want to have a look.

oh wow it didn't even know they made a kit for the ram's i thing it would be an aesthetic thing for the srt brakes since they are so massive. I saw an extremely clean srt10 at the dealer and it sparked my interest to see what was necessary for the swap.

Being 4x4 wont have an effect on the srt spindles ?

There are 2 different spindles, a short 2wd spindle and an equivalent spindle for the quad cabs that are the same height as the 4wd spindle, but they both use the same hub as the regular 1500s so the CV shafts will go into those the same. The only possible issue is the spindles may push the hub out a 1/2" further than the 4wd spindle and it's cause early failure of the stup shaft on the front differential but it's not a common issue.
