Sometimes you have to remember all the work that went into these, and some weren't "Pristine" when it all begain.

My project car right now is one such example:
64 Falcon Sprint Convertible, verified as a genuine Sprint by matching the VIN under the hood to the info on the door tag that indicates it is a Sprint by it's body code 76E.

ATM it's still rough but some work has been done and it's also been confirmed as a running car (Engine).
Might need building but that's not a huge concern right now, I've got other things that needs to be done before worrying about that since it does run.

260 V8 with a 2-speed "Ford-O-Matic" trans, 3:25 rears and it's an original "Triple Black" car too - Not to mention it's also one that came with a bench seat instead of bucket seats up front.
The grille is from a 65 but the VIN and door tag says 64 and it wasn't uncommon for guys to swap out a 64 grille for a 65 since it looks better.

Mostly in the shape seen in these pics but the floorpans have been replaced so no worries about the body warping if I jack it up now.
Once I get my shop built, the work will continue.

Gosh darn did you just bring back some great memories. My best friend in high school had a '65, 289 4 spd, and Nick had a '64 260, 4 spd. Neither were convertibles though. Spent many of "American Graffiti" nights in those cars.

Yes, I'm well aware of the "K" code Canadian versions - I believe the guys at the plant that made them just "Did It" and that's all there was to it in the end.... Whether the bosses at the plant were really involved or not.

Those were made quietly and slipped out the door because Ford itself, as a company (The execs) didn't want the Mustang's performance image tarnished.

That's because the Falcon actually had better handling due to a better overall weight balance, so it could beat one with the same drivetrain setup in things like road course racing for example, as testing one with the drivetrain in it at Ford's proving ground demonstrated.

If those had been made and sold, that would have put Ford against itself in literal terms when you think about it.

Mine is a rarity within a rarity, that means Sprints are rare to start with and it's a variant that's VERY hard to find within the line due to what it is.
Out of all 64 Sprint convertibles made, (Either 4208 or 4280 - Can't remember which ATM) only 626 were equipped with a bench seat instead of buckets and it's one of them. To top it off, I've seen sources say only about 50 "Triple Black" convertibles were ever made.

Now:
I don't know if that just applies to the Sprint line itself or over all Falcon convertibles period, regardless of model (Base, Futura and Sprint models) but it's one of those "Triple Black" cars as well, making it a really hard to find variant within the lineup.

BTW there were only 300 65 Sprint Convertibles made PERIOD, so if you run across a 65, you've got something that's well worth having.

Too bad it's not possible to get a Marty report on it or I'd know more about it.
That's because the building where production records from 66 and older were kept had a fire and all production records were lost so you can only get a Marty report for 67 and newer Fords.

What's it like getting parts for it,like the convertiable top

It wasn't that bad, got the top and other things for this one a few years ago from these guys:
1963-65 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible Tops and Convertible Top Parts

I paid alot less getting it back then and I knew these would only get more expensive as time passed, so I got the top and other stuff right from the start.
All that is still in their boxes, waiting to be installed one day.
They make tops for alot of car makes/models so it's a good source for convertible tops with the extras you'd need.
I'm not 100% sure I have everything for it but I know the majority/bulk of what this one needs is what I've got at the very least.
I did get the cover (When the top is down) at a different place because their price was cheaper so I went with them for it.

My wife's Wrangler came with the Falken Wildpeak MTs and they work great (even in the snow) but are kind of loud on the highway... like most MTs.
