I recently installed a front tow hitch for my plow. The hitch sits a little low for my liking so I am looking to raise the front about 2 inches. I also wouldn't mind a more level look anyway. I've read about how bad it is to use spacers to level your truck. So as cheap as they are ($60) I don't want to go that route only to have to spend more money down the road.

The cheapest option I found is Rough Country N3 leveling strut. They are a simple swap with a preloaded coil to give me 2 inches height in the front. My question is will I avoid the pitfalls of spacers going with this kit? Wouldn't my upper control arms, ball joints etc still wear faster with this kit? Does anyone run this kit and would i need anything else? I just want to level the truck for the least amount of money (besides spacers). And $350 isn't that bad.

I'm not certain these are the exact struts but I've heard that certain struts sold by RC have a plastic ring at the bottom of the strut and there have been instances where 1 might have broken thus making the strut unusable until replaced or repaired.

Several threads on a couple of sites. I have not investigated it and don't really know. Could or could not be true.

I'd ask RC, they should be able to respond.

Cheapest is never good and it’s cheapest for a reason. Bilstein 5100’s are in the same price category and have been a staple in our community as the tried and true reliable solution. The OEM coil is far superior than the replacement coil RC gives you as well. But put the whole thing into perspective you didn’t go out and buy the cheapest truck why skimp on major components?

Well the cheapest option is leveling spacers. But they seem to be a major no no so I figured these RC's have to be a whole lot better than spacers. I've watched a few different reviews on these RC's and most owners seem to be satisfied even after running them for a while. Most say the ride is better than stock too. I like that it's an easy install, no spring compressor needed.

And I didn't buy an F150 or a Tundra...so it's not like I bought the most expensive truck I could lol.

Why are the RC coils worse than stock?

With RC you don’t know what you’re getting you could luck out and be one of the 20% that don’t have problems. Or you can get a free set like the guys doing the reviews. (I’ve been offered free and insane discounts but it all feels morally wrong)

ROUGH country parts never seem to last. I also would recommend the Bilstein 5100's for a cost effective solution. The 5100's have been widely used here by the members and for a lower cost option to the level a RAM they are hard to beat. If you are interested in a quote please feel free to message me.

Don’t use RC 2.5, waste of money as I have put a few of the cheaper levelling struts to the test. Procomp adjustable lasted the longest at 2 years. Readylift 2.0 came in at 1.5 years, and RC 2.5 came in at 8 months. I’m currently running Fabtech 2.5 Coilovers with res and love them! From reviews for the cheapest and best quality, Bils 5100 as stated would be the way to go.
