I have a bit of a dilemma. I have been searching all of the lift kits around and think that the 4" rcx lift would be a good one. Few questions that i need answered badly! 1: Why does RC say it is not recommended for AWD models if it is a 4wd lift? Also says not for TRX models ( I have an Outdoorsman and would like to know the differences). 2: Is the ride smooth or rough? If it is harsh is it economically smart to swap out shocks later down the road? 3: Is anyone currently running this lift? Advice and reviews would be greatly appreciated!

Dodge used to offer an AWD transfer case along with 4wd
Its an entirely different system then the 4wd which is why it is not recommended
They dont recommend it with TRX optioned trucks because they come from the factory with +1.5"to +2" springs in the front. When you add in the components of the lift you will see more then 4" of lift because of the suspension geometry
This extra lift can be hard on suspension components

Dodge 1500 Ram Suspension Lift Kit
If you go with this kit you shouldnt have any problems
Most people who get 4" kits end up kicking themselves for not just going with the 6" kit

Make sure you check out our vendor MPC for a price

Now the 4wd and AWD thing makes some sense! Thank you! But my truck doesn't sit higher in the front at all. I test drove a few and it seemed to sit all about the same. What makes it harder on the bearings if you don't mind me asking? Does it have something to do with angles?

PMed PMC and am getting anxious because a put a jack under the truck tonight and raised it to about the estimated height and it looked sweet! I will definately consider the 6" though.

I'm not sure if the outdoorsman is an inch higher then normal, I dont believe it does
You shouldnt have any problems or concerns really

The extra stress is just because of the angle that the taller springs that come on the TRX because the kit isnt designed for them

Have you ever had any experience with a lift like this on any vehicle? I have heard that some of these rcx lifts are just cheaply built. But i also have heard the same about Remington and I am always Remington and Mopar Loyal lol I just would like to know as much as possible before I pull the trigger.

I've helped to install them on a few jeeps now (my brothers old Cherokee and my best friends TJ)
RC used to have a quality issue years ago. Most of the bad things you here about them are from people who have never used ten an heard from a friend of a friend that they're junk
In the past few years the company has gone under new ownership, adopted a warranty almost identical to BDS and the quality is much better.

Anyone I know that has a RCX kit seems more then pleased. The only complaint I have heard is that the kit sometimes is missin parts parts when it arrives but RC has always fixed the problem

Well a few kids at school have them and they seem to be doing just fine. I think that I will ask them persoanlly but I really do like the fact that they have a warranty. If the shocks turn out to be too stiff I can always replace them later. I appreciate the insight!

I say go with the 6". Once you start lifting your truck it becomes an addiction, at least for most of us. It'll only take one time pulling up to another truck at a stoplight that is higher than yours and you'll be ordering a body lift, spacers, etc. You might end up regretting a 4" lift down the road, and that that point you're stuck with it unless you pretty much buy a whole new lift.

Also, all of the various lifts for these trucks are solid. RC, BDS, ProComp, and a few others are all reliable lifts that will perform well on and off road. Its really just a matter of personal taste and budget.

IMHO I would go with the 6 over the 4. I have the RCX 6 INCH and love it. Rides almost like stock if not for the mud terain tires. I wouldn't go back to stock. I have nothing bad to say about the lift. Modern performance will hook you up. They were great to deal with.

well, I am no 5 star mechanic but RC says that TRX models ( i have an Outdoorsman) won't fit unless you replace the struts? What does all that mean?

The trx model uses a different strut then st, SLT, big horn etc. that gives them +1" of front end height compared to those models
They say not to use it as the kit isn't designed for that suspension geometry
People have used the kit with trx struts without problems
I'm not sure if outdoorsman are the same way or not

Thanks for the insight. My truck is an SLT? Must have a modified suspension lol Would like to order a kit but MPC won't contact me back! So i ordered the Bilstein 5100 shocks in hopes of leveling and lifting the front end. If I eventually did order the kit, would i be forced to remove the Bilstein shocks? How does that all work out?

^^^^^ I will second that- I love my lift...I love my truck...I would be sad to not have it at least 6" - I got a 6" lift - So I am not sad. I am happy.

If you go with bilstien adjustables then you don't have to worry about the trx situation

The shocks were ordered yesterday and it is just a matter of time before I install them! ( I will find out a way to post some pics) Not trying to seem like a blonde, but how do the Bilstein 5100 shocks fix the problem? I learn quickly but this is all new to me. Also, was it difficult to install them? Isn't it just a coil suppression then swap the shocks or it that too easy?

This is a bit off topic but still pertains to my lift. How do airbags fit into a lift? I have heard that they can help on your payload, but is it enough to justify the work and effort? I have never dealt with them but they have gotten my attention.

I am becoming very frustrated with MPC. It seems that he is busy, but he could at least acknowledge that he got a price request from me. Is there anyway that I could persoanlly contact him? I can't find much info on the company honestly.
