I just got new "cleared" headlights for the truck. I only need the housings so I was okay with ordering them off of eBay. just to be on the safe side I want to seal off the headlights. I have not opened the housings up, they are still brand new, I am only doing this just to be safe to prevent future condensation. I have heard silicone isn't the best option. any suggestions?? thanks

I believe RetroShop sells it by the roll

that's what I have heard and was planning on using. after I put the rubber on do I need to heat it or is it ready to go?

Remove all the factory sealnt, it's a pain
You'll have to reheat like you do to open them

I've only done 03-05 lights but they were really easy
The butyl will let you open them again if you should need to

so I shouldn't put the butyl over the current sealant. I am doing this as just a safety thing. I don't wanna open them up cause when I put them back together I don't want to reseal improperly. I just want something I can put as a second layer over the current sealant

id throw em in the oven and open them back up. take all the old sealnt, and re seal them with better stuff really really good because they are notorious for leaking
