Grinding sound in the rear suspension as it compresses over speedbumps

I had a similar sound on mine, made it sound like a beat up truck on bumpe.it was the isolator on top of the spring, mines been lowered for nearly 100k miles. Been good for the past 40k

If they wont cover it ill just be doing new shocks sooner than prefferred. I atleast want the verification of knowing what it is. Will look at the bushings in the morning..

Upon doing some more research im finding that it could be caused by a messed up spring isolator in the rear. Going to set another appointment tomorrow in hopes that they will find it. Going to make them watch my video so they cant tell me it do3snt make noise

Kms are at 48 thousand. I spend alot of time on fsrs and doing some trails. The truck sat for almsot a year and the rear control arm bushings were totally dried out. They covered it and did it. They look perfectly fine. Came with a swaybar and i swapped it out for a hellwig aftermarket option for the adjustability and added stiffness. Endlinks i made sure were torqued to hellwigs spec and they are also in amazing shape. I havent checked the track bar so ill check that. But im 99 percent sure the sound is coming from the shock. I apoligixe for my negligence or stupidity im simply new to dealing with such stuff. The technicians video hsd him telling me everything appeared in order and etc. One of my headlights is full of condensation. They tried to get me to shell out 2100 to swap a new unit. I threw a fit and what do you know? Suddenly they were incorrect and it actually is covered! They are very dishonest i just want to get the use out of my warranty before august. I will upload to yt and have you guys take a listen

To effectively see the issue not hear it they will need to remove the rear inner plastic fender. That will expose the shock and the spring isolator bushing, both can be seen once removed.

Definitely sounds metal on metal, I agree with everyone above, either a sping isolator or upper shock mount. The shock does look like it's flexing outward on the mount at the top. If it sat for a year and control arms dried out, anything rubber related is suspect.

Precisely. They couldnt just tell by shining a light on the damn shock which is probably what the lazy ******* did. I feel its metal on metal aswell and after doing lots of digging exactly that are what ive narrowed down to. Isolator or the shock bushing. New appointment is coming up this monday. Will update you with the results of it. First day back to work after my christmas break too. I was thinking the same that it is definitely metal on metal. Hoping its the shock as im 90 percent my advisor would get it covered for me. I have the full extended till august. Waiting on my projector on backorder aswell. If its a shock and they refuse to cover it im just going to throw bilsteins at it sooner than i wanted to.

You may want to check the sway bar bushings since you added an aftermarket sway bar. The bushings can make a horrendous sound, especially when you go over a speed bump because both ends of the sway bar move together in the same direction, thus there is maximum rotation in both of the bushing. This sound can be amplified through the bar making it hard to localize. Hopefully, your bushings have a zerk fitting that will allow them to be lubricated.

I have a car that has this issue. If I don't lubricate the bushings occasionally, they'll let me know!

I checked them and they are still quite immaculate. But probably could us a grease. I thiught it may have been the rubber moving agains the new metal of the swaybar. But it definitely isnt. Its definitely a metal on metal noise. But i will be looking into tossing some more grease on them just for peace of mind...

I was lazy and used an aerosol can of silicone grease.
It likely won't last as long, but much easier to apply to upper shock bushings.

Thank you to all. Turns out you were all correct aswell as me with the shock mount bushing being the culprit. Dealer wants to replace both shocks under warranty due to the noise! Said no visual damage

Eh. Good enough. I got new shocks but i think i still hear it. Maybe less? Maybe its things settling down. Im probably tweaking but i think i still hear it. Will be doing the same test to potentially film the sound

Warranty till august. So replacement till it goes away.

Warranty till august. So replacement till it goes update: sound continued. Inspected new rear sway bar bushings and noted zero grease. Lubed heavily and refitted and noise gone!
