I have called Ram Care & called several dealership service advisors and no one can tell me why my rear camera touchscreen button is red. It didn’t used to be and I was able to click on it. Back-up camera still works but I’m trying to figure out what’s going on.

Ok. Because the color of the icon changes depending on the "Theme" you pick in settings.
RAM 1 will make it RED.
RAM 2 ....BLUE
RAM 3 .... ORANGE
RAM 4..... ORANGE
RAM 5 .... RED

I'm communicating with the OP. He did not claim it wasn't functioning..... atleast yet. He asked about the icon changing color, that's what I'm responding to.

It did not used to be RED, it was always white outline black background & white truck. It came back like this after I took it to the dealership for 2 recalls.

There's been a released update mine did it over the air a few months ago. They probably did the update and didn't advise you of that. Since you had other recalls done they probably did everything to bring it up to date.

So technically you have no problem.

@Jcefus
I added some pics to my post #5 above so you can see the difference. You access SETTINGS after clicking the ŭApps icon on the screen.

So I checked my themes this morning and I switched it to blue & orange, which did not switch the color of the back up camera button but only the display buttons. So there continues to be a problem as this is red constantly no matter which theme I change it to. My themes are not the same as yours @18CrewDually so something is still wrong. Recalling the past, I was able to click on the top left button & change from narrow to wide angles for the backup camera. and that no longer works. @Jim BB iIwill keep you updated on this mystery.

So are you saying that the ZOOM function is not working? If so, then that's what you need to tell the dealership.

No, the zoom feature is the magnifying glass with the +/- inside depending on if it’s zoomed or not and it works. The camera touchscreen button that is red used to work by clicking it to change the width/angle of the backup camera. That button (circled) used to not be red, like yours that changes with your themes, but had no background color at all.

Mine never did that. Maybe it's a glitch.
I’m sure it is a glitch. Even the manual calls it a “backup camera touchscreen button” and it has been since I’ve owned the truck until they updated my system. Can’t get an appt until next month so here’s to hoping.

I swear, every time FCA does an Update, U get an update, they fix things, but then other "gremlins" show up. They flashed my BCM with 6 updates, and fixed some stuff but ended up with 2 issues, that Dealership telling me BS and not addressing, LOL.

Since U a NJ boy, I give my NJ opinion.

1) Maybe pull fuse for camera system, let sit then re-insert and see if it resets the software ref camera.
2) Open up tailgate and unplug camera. Power down truck, shut down. Plug camera back in and see if reset?

Just a couple of skerry thoughts when BOIRD starts thinking, lmao.

ADDED: OP, suggestion for U also, do as U deem fit.

Nothin wrong with mine. I'm not messing with it since it works as expected.
I'm still not sure if there is with his either really. I think he's saying the camera button used to do a "quick zoom" or wide angle view but know he has to hit the zoom button. I don't really see a problem personally.
