Before making that decision, I would contact your own insurance. They can cover it, then sue her on your behalf to try and recover the deductible. Now, if they will fight as hard for it as you would is a different question and results vary, but they are supposed to do this if you have full coverage.
My insurance said they would go after them, but like you said maybe not as hard as I would for myself. I have full coverage.

I believe I pay a bit extra on my insurance to cover uninsured drivers.
This might be a good time to review your policy and maybe call around for new policy quotes from others if your present company are being difficult about paying out.

I was with the last company for 30+ years when they decided to get more greedy.
They tried to extort me for a $500 annual increase unless I paid about $450 to have transmitters in my truck.

Then, no doubt, they would not approve of my driving habits and want to jack my rates again. I moved my truck and house insurance, and am saving money.

.
I have uninsured motorist coverage. That is what is paying for the repairs.

Sadly my body shop says they are backed up and can't get to it until Sept 8th.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your RAM, glad to hear no one was hurt!

For the exhaust, I would verify exactly whats damaged to see if you need a whole catback or not and to make sure your y pipe is still good. I would also have the manifolds checked for cracks. With all the manifold issues these trucks have on their own...I would verify they have no cracks in them now.

If you want 5" tips, the MBRP tips are the way to go. Much better quality over the Carven ones. We have them listed here

If you need a catback we got lots of options there. It just might be difficult to find one quiet enough for the wife. We do have some quieter options as far as aftermarket systems go. Message me to discuss options and pricing.

Nick brings up a great point regarding the "see exactly what's damaged", and exhaust manifolds and the y-pipe, etc.

One thing that is a MUST IMPO in your instance currently is to ensure that your claim has "cascading damages" fully indicated and acknowledged by your insurance company.

That wasn't a light tap that did all that damage ;)

I agree. A Mustang GT I had was totaled after a women in an SUV ignored me in the on-coming lane as she made a left turn into my front fender and nearly took the entire side of my car off. She tried to tell the cop I was speeding (I wasn’t - it was a school zone) but he wasn’t buying any of that and told her he didn’t care even if I had been, and ticketed her. I filed and let GEICO sue her and her insurance for their expenses and my deductible which I got back. Then the dumb ***** had the gall to sue my insurance for damages and repairs. GEICO said not to worry. They screwed around with her for a year or two and let her eat some legal fees and then just denied her whole suit. Not sure if a Judge was involved in that or not.

Let your insurance go after her.

The 5" tips sounds cool. Any pictures? Are they factory or aftermarket? If aftermarket, which brand?

The insurance adjuster says it is $1,574 in damage. My body guy says that is a lowball. Just great.
These are mine,Nick found these somewhere & got them delivered to me, I couldn’t find any due to my cat-back being a different diameter than stock.
I’ve tried painting them once but will end up getting powdercoated at some point.

Exact same thing happened to my Ram. Be sure they check the hitch. If it needs replacement, it's difficult to find from Ram. Look on EBay. They have Mopar ones, cheaper than Ram dealer.

Not sure yet. Just found out yesterday about the no insurance. Thinking of contacting the police about this. She was cited for speeding.
In NY she will get a nice tow to impound then the storage fees get you+ towing job tons of $. No insurance after accident is usually a ride in a cop car otherwise ur still getting towed and good luck finding it

My wife was rear-ended and it pushed the passenger side exhaust a foot forward. May need a new exhaust.

She liked the sound of the stock exhaust but may tolerate something a little louder. I'd like to get something in stainless steel.

I've looked around, but I'm open to suggestions.

Of course the person who hit her was a 20yo with expired insurance and my deductible is $1K.

Thanks.
I had the same thing happen to mine at the end of June. She punched the R/tail pipe and the right side of the bumper. The bumper kissed the right quarter. $5,000 in damage, including a new tail pipe with resonator and tip and refinishing the quarter.

If she was stopped and in "Drive", then the motor mounts need checked AND the condition of the transmission should be evaluated.

You will likely have to claim on your own insurance and pay the deductible. Your insurance company will do all the legal leg work to try and collect from his insurance company (The term is to "subrogate" against that Ins. co.)

At least, here in good old Texas, it is thataway. I had the same thing happen to me years ago. I got my deductible returned to me 2 years after the fact. Do not hold your breath.

Sorry, this happened. Turn in a claim to your Insurance Company! They will make you whole (depending on the company) <G> and They will go after the other party. They will most likely offer her a payment plan for the repairs. IF an insurance Company knows who was at fault, they will want to get their $$ back. She should still get a ticket for no insurance

I had the same thing happen to my 2023 Limited Longhorn. They told me that it would only need an exhaust Tip OEM 329 dollars my insurance company, they put it on, and it was still pushed in too far under the bumper. The manger in the body shop ordered a new exhaust system from the cat back it is called OEM, big bucks for that, but that is why I pay for insurance. A little love tap cost my insurance company over 9500 dollars, I could not believe that, but it was real, the bill. Other things like a new bumper OEM and mounting brackets, all new plastic covers, covers for the sensors on the bumper, and a Putco tail light bar

5.7 Hemi.....wow what a difference 10 years makes.....
In 2017 my '94 ½T 4X4 got rear ended by a Prius.
Ended up totaling the truck as she hit the trailer hitch and it pushed down and bent the frame.
Cost to repair was supposedly $7K.
In the year before I had replaced the motor and had trans done to the tune of $9K and it had a set of tires with less than 1K miles on it.
24 year old truck with 150K on it and it still drove and handled fine after the accident.
Insurance paid out $4995.00.
Five months later I had my right hip replaced.
Don't ask why but I didn't pursue a suit.
Now every time I see those commercials for "Sweet James" or "Morgan and Morgan" I want to scream!!

Moral of this tale is look for unseen damage and be sure wife is OK!

Sorry to hear about the accident. Why is it always the uninsured motorists that seem to hit us? Same thing happened to me a while back.

For exhaust, if you're looking to do a cat-back system, the Borla is amazing. My buddy has one on his '21 and I plan to put one on my (new to me) '24 in the coming year. My wife is still a little mad at me for going over budget for the '24. The Borla had 3 levels of loudness. The one I liked was the middle one. It's throaty, but not obnoxious to neighbors. No drone based on my experience.
