Before I try, does anyone know if the bottom portion of the rear seat can be separated from the back portion of the rear seat? I'm trying to give my 175lb dog a bit more room in the back so she can turn around and move more easily. I want to keep the padded rear section but remove the bottom seat section.

The bottom of the seat should detach, they had to assemble it somehow.
I think you would have to remove the whole back seat to see if doing that is feasible

I do know the seat is held in place by 4 bolts that are have Locktite on them

I would use a breaker bar or an right angle impact wrench

If we didnt have the grandkiddo to haul around every once in awhile, I would have just taken the whole backseat out and get a covered cushion made to pad the rear wall. instead went with a flat panel and a cut up memory foam bed material..

That looks comfy! Lol!

My old girl has a hard time walking on thick padded cushions though. So I have the fold flat floor down for her with a few thin memory foam bath mats on it. It works for her but since the seat is up and folded, she can't turn around too easily. A Mega-cab would be good for her but not for me. LOL!

Also, I have a new 2021 C.C. model on order that will have the subwoofer behind the seat so I don't want to remove the whole seat, just the bottom section to give her more room to turn around. So, the question if the bottom section will detach from the back section still has me baffled. It seems the hinge that holds them together may be one piece. ??? Not sure. So I figured that I would ask you fine folks on here since you all pretty much have done everything to your trucks. LOL!!!

:)

When my 2016 was brand new, i took a photo
of the rear seat electrical connector
It shows the seat bracket nearest the back of the cab

I think that i would remove the whole seat & just build a whole platform for the floor & up the rear cab wall.
Then carpet the whole thing

You would just need to store the seat some where, to have for when you sell the truck

I'm sure the bottom seat cushions can be removed but more than likely there will still be a metal frame of some sort in the way. The cushion has to mount to something that supports the weight of someone seated in it. If you need to make room for the pup I'd remove the entire back seat and get creative with some wood and padding. I dont know what trim level truck you have but my 21 CC has a 60/40 rear bench seat that can be removed in each section so I can remove just one section if I had to. My 11 Ram QC had a one piece rear bench seat
