Since I've had this guy under the UConnect settings, Lighting and Engine-Off Options I've got Easy Exit and the Interior Ambient Lighting. Sometimes when I get in the truck and start it I get curious and check... these two options can't be adjusted or dis/enabled.

For example.. today I Googled and discovered that Easy Exit might not work if the seat motor lost or needs calibration. Running it all the way back, hold for 5 seconds, all the way forward, hold for 5 seconds. So I check the menus and notice that Easy Exit is enabled.. I uncheck the box and finish driving to the gas station. Before I leave I do the seat thing, then go into the menus to enable Easy Exit except I here a beep of a different tone and the box unchecks itself. Engine on, or off, doesn't matter.
So a couple times when I was driving, I reach over and check the box.. *boop* unchecks itself.

So that's the first one, the second is Internal Ambient Lighting. (I did enable this in DiagFCA) I do not have the required LEDs in the doors for this feature but it's been in my UConnect since I've had the truck. Today I build the 2 Y-diode adapters, throw a couple pins into C5 pin 3 to get my side mirror turn signals to light up with the ambient lighting. Except I notice that they don;t cut out with the turn signals.. which is (after some thought) expected. Ok that's fine I'll just adjust the lighting level down a bit so the increased voltage for the turn signals is more apparent.
Nope.. the Internal Ambient Lighting is set to 6 (the max). If I attempt to lower it, *boop* it reverts to 6. So after some screwing around with it I thought "f it", and I drove home. Get home, pop back into the menu and banm.. it's set to 0. "Ok what the hell..". Try to increase.. nope. More *boop* resetting to zero.

So, can anyone tell me WTF is going on with these features?

Have these options ever worked before?
Usually, when something that unchecks itself, either that is the Uconnect option was enabled by someone and truck was not OEM equipped with that option or the associated parts for that option are not installed.

Check your build sheet / window sticker to see if it was like that OEM. Are you the original owner? If not knows, who knows what got turned on / off and / or what equipment was added / changed.

TBF I saw the Easy Exit when I bought it but the seat never moved so I ignored it. The ambient lighting.. both front door modules have the pins on C5 pins 3 and 9. Just not wires because the downstream LED's were not present. I can attest that the voltage to pin 3 coordinates with the foot well lighting. I assume that there are no other modules for the door lighting that might require canbus signals.
What's weird though.. reading this morning I *think* that Easy Exit is tied to driver seat memory. The driver door module plug for C5 pins 6 and 7 for driver seat memory are populated. IDK if there's a button for driver seat position or not as I've never actually seen one but, yeah. Maybe relevant, maybe not.
No not the original owner.

EDIT Duh the seat position switch is on the seat itself close to the position switches. No I do not have that. Makes me think that perhaps the seat was replaced at some point, for whatever reason. Crap, now I need to examine it's plugs.

According to this thread, it's just door module and LEDs.

If this build sheet is correct, I have a 'seat parts module' for which Google thinks is the one for seat memory, heat, etc. But non-adjustable pedals so.. IDK if you can have one without the other.
The sheet does list 'exterior mirrors w/memory'. Im going to have to get underneath the seat and see whats there.

Look in in your owners manual to see what controls what.

Also, if a module is dead to the world and the canbus can't see it, or the BCM has a wrong item not checked, the system may act if it isn't built in.

Did you putz with the BCM programming with AlfaOBD?

In DiagFCA, of course I did! lol. I made sure the 3 features related to Ambient lighting were enabled. However before having some sort of load on those leads I could never get the level in UConnect above 0.. now I can't get it below 6 ha!
Checking my previous exported config, there is an item related to Ambient lighting level which is set to 100%. My only Windows device is old, and super slow and isn't booted right now so I can't recall the exact feature, but if the rain stops this weekend sometime I plan on hooking it back up to see if I can set that 50% (or anything other than 100 really).
The older post I linked above where someone mentioned how a UConnect feature can't be set if there's some accompanying feature not enabled. Other than not physically having a separate Ambient lighting adjustment wheel like the normal one for interior lighting.. I can't find anything else that's obviously related.

FWIW I found the setting and changed it to 50%. A key cycle (and a few days later) in UConnect the ambient lighting level is now 0. And just like before, unchangeable.
Since the effective brightness did not seem diminished at all, and since I needed to rebuild my Y-adapters anyway, I used diodes with a high Vf to reduce effective voltage to the side mirror LEDs. I dropped each side by ~2.2v which made a drastic difference between the 'ambient/running' voltage and turn signal voltage.
With these adapters I do not have the drop out like others do, but Im fine with that for now.

This summer I might get bored again and incorporate a cap/relay to have the drop out function.
