Just had a thought for a product for something for the tuner God.

With todays technology of remote start and blue tooth and such, Apps that allow you to control your home, lock doors/windows turn on your heater etc etc... Why cant that programing technology be put into these advanced CANBUS trucks. have a remote start app on your phone to where you can control seat heaters, the climate control system, defrosters? Not being a programmer is this even possible with the computers within vehicles?

There are apps for aftermarket alarms/ remote starts that let you start your truck via cell phone and be notified what is going on with the truck. I do not know however if you can control any of the internal vehicle devices.

I'm pretty sure there is an app that allows you to remote start your truck from your phone in the UConnect. I may be wrong, but I thought my salesman told me that.

I think there's another Uconnect thread that states that you can start the truck remotely using an app, but, ummmm ... it's not a favorable review for Uconnect.

In terms of the heat, radio and other settings, I think you'd have to go old school and try to remember to set your settings where you want them when you turn the truck back on remotely.

And by old school, I mean, like last 20 years, lol. :emotions34:

When I use the remote start in my '16 Ram Sport, the heated seat and steering wheel comes on automatically if it is under 40 degrees outside.

I do go old school... I don't have auto start or the app or anything, I go out every morning and fire it up as I get ready... do the same with the GF's car when we go places. That is the requirement to the charger when she buys it it that it will have autostart

All you would need is root access to the radio. That's what the big fuss was about over the summer.

RT, not sure if I totally understand your want/need but my 2015 2500 Laramie does all this with the remote start. What don't get the need to have the phone app to do the remote start. Are elope doing this from 1/4mile away or 50 floor up? Then when it doesn't work right they get upset.

Didn't know this was an option or available on any model. You can actually change the climate control from the key fob? I know the remote start is there and has been around for a long time, had it on my 07 with a aftermarket system. and the only reason why I suggested it to be a app is cause its a all in one easy to operate then having to press this button once then that twice hold this and turn your hat backwards and stand on one foot to get the defroster to turn on... Just thinking of a user friendly set up.

While not as controllable as you would like the systems from Compustar and Viper you can program what options you need based on temperature, and control start/locks/ect from the phone. Other than that I think the Tesla's you can control everything from phone.

app based remote starts (aftermarket) have been around for may years now about 5-7. the problem is an aftermarket companies that design the bypass modules needed for todays complex canbus systems dont "hack" into the system to figure out the all the fine details. they only care about what they need to make an alarm/remote start work. every canbus system on every car is different. not even a chrysler to a dodge are the same always.

We haven't had any issues for a while.... If you were using App Based remote starts 5-7 years ago I can def see why there were problems lol... Apps were brand new and people were using the iPhone 3gs and Blackberrys still :roflsquared: If I am not mistaken, the Compustar one is only 2 years old and the Viper isn't much older than that.

What problems or concerns do you have with them?
