Has anyone removed the bed rails cover for a cleaner look?
I think it would look nice with a low profile tonneau cover
or is the body line different on the top edge??

When I took mine off to spray bed liner in the bed, I think I took a picture of it. There are holes big, little, round and squares ones all over it.

Yep, it is quite a mess of different shaped sizes of holes.

I looked into removing them to get the best seal on my bakflip mx4 cover, as water gets under the bed rail covers. Saw one pic with the rail covers off and realized that was a dead end.

Would be cool if someone made an alunimun panel that basically made it smooth and lined up with that beeline on the bed - but that would be $$$$$$

That's one of my future projects... Remove the plastic crap and fab some black diamond plate rail caps. Should be pretty simple... Bend it so it covers the inside of the bed rail and sticks out over the side. Scribe the body contour into the metal and then bandsaw it to fit. A little filing to clean up the edge, maybe a little light hammering to roll the edge a bit, and then just put a few self-tapping screws in to hold it on.

BUT... I am wanting to do this to protect my bed rail from the crap I throw in and drag out. Not to look pretty or seal up a cover. And I'm not squeamish about poking holes in the bed for screws and such.
