I have a Gator hard cover that works like a bak flip, but it has four sections instead of the more common tri-fold, and it has been great for my needs. I wouldn't call it completely waterproof as some water does get in during heavy rain or a car wash, but not much. To help alleviate that it does feature drain tubes that collect water from the side rails and drain it out the bed holes.

I like the hard cover for security as on race weekends we carry some tools, fuel, and equipment in the bed and leave them in the truck while on the road or at a hotel. We carry a pit motorbike that requires only one of the the four segments to be open during travel and the cover still does a respectable job of keeping other stuff dry if we encounter rain on the way to the drag strip. Obviously the pit bike gets wet

The four segment system is nice when all are flipped up as they don't *completely* obstruct rear vision - although that doesn't matter when towing that big box with the race car in it.

I've had this cover for almost 10 years and within just the past year the seals have begun to deteriorate to the point of becoming less effective, so there's that. But it lives outdoors 24-7-365 as I have too many toys occupying garage space.

Been having a hard time searching through forums so decided at last to join one and ask my questions directly. I’ve got a 2019 1500 Classic Tradesman, trying to find a replacement bed cover that’s as waterproof as possible. Truck came with a weather tech one when I bought it and it’s falling apart and leaks like crazy. Need to keep gear and other stuff dry and secure. Would appreciate advice on options to invest in. Considering Rough Country but I’m open to better ideas from anyone who’s used better covers than RC.

I had three different Undercover Elites . Never had an issue. I have a 2025 Ram now with RamBoxes. They dont make one to fit. I would buy the Undercover Elite. No water...little bit of dust.

No water...little bit of dust. Never had any water issue. If water is a big deal, get a couple big tubs with lids and leave them in the bed to use.

I like it but must admit I haven't been through a hard rain yet. Very high quality though.

I had a tonneau cover on my last truck that had no issues for the 7 years that I owned it. It worked fine for a soft cover. I wanted the hard cover (above) for my new truck for security reasons.

Are you looking for a hard tri-fold, hard roll up, or retractable. If you want a hard tri fold, the BAK MX4 newest version does a great job at keeping the water out. We offer most of the major manufacturers and have a lot of bed cover customers that have given us feedback.

I have this on my current 2018 2500 and does a great job of keeping elements out. I used to have a PaceEdwards hard roll top on my 2003 2500 from new. Loved it, lasted about 13 years until it finally gave up. Only thing I didn't like was it didn't work well in winter when moisture froze in the tracks. I was in Upstate NY then in Virginia with it. Went with a hard tri-fold from Walmart for a few years, it worked really well until I received the above as a gift.

i had a Diamondback HD on my 2014 for years. Pricey but stout. Think it was rated to carry 1700LB. It was waterproof but keep in mind it's DIY install and up to you to get it water tight.

The backflip revolver “roll up cover” looks easy to live with. No experience with it though.

I've had this one on my 2019 for over 5 years and it's been good so far. It has been garage kept so I don't know how it would stand up to weather 24/7. I was going to go with a cheaper soft cover but my wife wanted something you couldn't cut open with a knife. It looks like a tonneau but a little more secure. It does leak a little at the tailgate but not as much as my brother's fiberglass cap on his Colorado. Only other issue is you can't strap anything to the front of the bed if it's taller than the top of the bed.

I've had 3 different types of covers on my trucks in the past: a regular vinyl cover, a tri-fold cover, and a fiberglass cover. If you're looking for a truly waterproof cover, in my opinion, you will need a fiberglass cover. They are truly waterproof, and they are secure. They are also really expensive, and they severely limit the use of your bed to anything that is over about 24" tall. However, I think they are the best-looking tonneau covers in my opinion.

I would not spend more than $200 on one - there are way too many inexpensive and good options in this area........and, not too much above that price point, and you can get into various solid folding tri fold covers, in the $400-$500 range.

Is it all of the sudden 1982 again? $200 for a soft cover? I paid $600 for my Truxedo 12 years ago. $400/500 for a hard/folding cover? I'll take one!!

I did a ton of research and ended up a year ago buying the Worksport AL4 flip up trifold cover, it hit all the categories for me. Very secure, each section locks, you can lock it in an upright position so you don't have to remove it to carry something large like furniture or mattresses, and it has a double gutter system with rubber pads to keep out the water. Its also a metal top and bottom, where I saw some of the other name brands (gator?) had a metal top and fiberboard bottom, which disintegrated for several customers after a few years. I also saw on a YouTube video where they took an axe to it and it held up amazingly well.

Yes it was a little over a thousand but it's very solid, made in the US and easy install. For anything you buy make sure you get a tailgate gasket kit from like Amazon for about 25 or $30 to get the tailgate sealed.

The Worksport AL4 is another great option that most people don't know about. That is a solid option as well that we also offer.

I have had several. To me the only one that can be waterproof and reasonably dustproof is an Undercover one piece or similar type. It overlaps the bed 360 degrees and I get no water inside. I also had the lock fail after a few years and they sent me a new assy. free of charge. It is only one I would buy.

When I got my truck, I bought a Gator cover for it. Mainly for the price and just to have a cover to prevent people from throwing trash or whatever into my bed and also to protect what I keep in my bed. Whenever it rains, it seems to stay dry in there. Went through a car wash, which I meant to take the cover off before, but no water was inside. It's just a soft top tri fold cover. The only issue which is normal after 5 years is the corner pads are cracking from the weather but still nothing getting in.

I currently have a Diamondback cover, its pricy but well worth the money. I was able to find one on the outlet store with a few tiny scratches that you can hardly see for $500 off. It does not leak.

I had a BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover before which lasted two years. It always leaked, and by the end it was falling apart. I wish I had just spent the money on the diamondback cover the first time.
