Resetting oil change indicator message

I have tried numerous times following the manuel " turn fob to run position without starting, depress brake 3 times in 10 seconds and turn fob to off". Still comes up at each startup. Anyone have this problem or suggestion? Thanks

Yeah real easy. Turn key, press gas pedal few times quickly, turn key to off. Done!!

Why is this even necessary? Just got my oil changed and this did clear the message.

Btw...I have not thourgly read the manual.

Although not nearly as frustrating as setting the homelink nuttons for your garage door opener, sometimes you may have to try 2-3 times before it takes effect. Don't pump the gas pedal too quickly during the 10 sec!

can you reset the oil indicator before it actually comes on? for example, if you change the oil according to mileage and not the computer.

One dealership told me that you can change the intervals for the message in the EVIC settings, although I am pretty confident this is bogus.

I asked cuz mine came on the first time at 8,000, then the second time at 11,000, and I was like wtf, that makes no sense.

ya you cant change it the first one is at 8 then the rest are at 3k intervals if you want to go say 5k just reset it when it comes on and keep track in a log

I got a DVD, but downloaded the manual from the Dodge website, and bookmarked it.
And I'm pretty sure you can't reset it until the light comes on.

That's weird all you guys got was DVD's. When I bought the '08 I got a whole bunch of manuals in a canvas package with extra pockets for reg/insurance cards etc AND a DVD with a CD as well. Hoping I don't get stiffed on the '12

I only got the DVD with my 2012 but supposedly if you call 1-866-726-4636 and request a manual they will provide one to the original owner. I plan on doing this but haven't yet so I don't know if this is true or not .

Mine in my 2012 came on at 3,500. The dealership says change every 3,000. The manual says every 8,000. I'm going with Amsoil next time and ignoring all of them.

I think my change oil light comes on when ever it feels like it. I'm ASSUMING the dealership I bought the truck from changed the oil before I bought it, it came on a month and a half after me purchasing it and again a week ago. Bought is w 19k miles and it has just over 24k on it now. I changed it the first time just because I was uncertain after the whole experience I had with them and the oil came out fairly clean looking, just reset the dang thing this time since I threw synthetic in last time.

It comes on at 3000 miles I believe not smart like GM oil sensor is. It simply comes on when the vehicle hits certain mileage. As I have posted before I have been changing at 10000 and my dad has been doing the same with amsoil and distance filter which get pretty nasty by the end of it.
