Retainer clip for headlight assembly kit

After changing a burnt out low beam headlight bulb, I couldn’t pull down the retainer clip that’s in the little door through the wheel well to secure it. If everything else is put back together and screwed in, is it ok to let it ride and not worry about it? I don’t want to break the clip and no matter how much pressure I put on it, it wouldn’t snap back down into place.

As long as everything is bolted in it will be fine. Half the time I can not tell if its engaged properly
