Just installed a couple of 4" LED pod lights on the back of the truck for Reverse lights. I tied them into the circuit at the right rear tail light. Before connecting i confirmed with a Fluke at the harness that i got +12V at the Black (COM) and Wht/Purp (REV).

When i put the truck into reverse the lights initially came on, then pulsed ON / OFF 3 or 4 times and now will not come on anymore. I am getting a " Rear right signal light " error message on the dash, and the stock reverse light does not turn on. Also i am no longer getting +12V at the harness

I checked the inline fuse for the new lights and its good...i cant find a fuse listed for the tail light in the fuse box

Anyone have any advice ?

Pulled the ( - ) battery term for 10 mins and the error message is now clear, still getting the ON / OFF pulse. Its a very slow deliberate pulse. On 3-5 secs...Off 3-5 secs, repeat 3 times then stops working all together. I installed the same lights on my 2014 F150 and never had an issue, although last time i connected them pretty half assed through my trailer hitch wiring harness, this time i wanted to do a nicer neater job and do the back of the tail light.

Maybe its an issue with connecting the power inline with the stock LED taillight...truck is seeing too high of a draw ??

Knowing how fickle LEDs can be i decided to change the wiring from inside the Tail light to the trailer hitch and BAM works like a charm...FYI to anyone else installing reverse lights, I guess the truck doesn't like having an aux set of reverse lights connected in parallel across the stock lights.

Following.

I’m planning to use a Curt harness when I get around to this project.

If you unplug those aftermarket LEDs, it will work.

The system sees a AMP draw more than expected and it's turning off the power to that area.

These trucks are too smart. Makes it annoying to work on them and add cool stuff.

All you need to do is wire them to the reverse light wire at the trailer harness and they will work. The trailer lights are not monitored by the canbus system. I have had mine wired up like this for months with no issues
